Favorite win in the valley

Over on @ClemsonFB, folks are posting their favorite win(s) in the Valley. I am showing my age, but I have two tied for first, 1980 South Carolina and 1981 Georgia.
I am so lucky to have been to so many great wins!

For me, as a student, the 89 revenge game with FSU. Being in that stadium that night was memorable.

something like the Puntrooskie. That one will always hurt. Just like losing to Bama in the Natty the way we did the first time we played them. We were the better team, and got out gimmicked.

1987 vs. Georgia.
The most exciting game I have ever personally attended.
We punted late in the game, down 20-16. Pinned GA on the goal line. They tried to run wide left and we got a safety to make it 20-18.
They kicked to us, and with the clock winding down we ran the ball down their throats. Breakout game for Terry Allen...if I recall correctly, he was virtually unknown at the time. I also think we were out of time outs, and still running the ball.
We get close and David Treadwell runs on the field and kicks the game winner...again, if I remember correctly we had no time outs to set up, and GA was either out of time outs or chose not to try and ice him, so it was all in a rush.
Pandemonium. Treadwell had kicked a long one in Athens to win the game the previous year too.

YUP!!.. 1987 win over the dawgs is my fav... as if the game needed anything else.. brent musberger's calls made it just that much better... "allen steps away.. allen creates it... allen for the corner"... and, "treadwell is 3 of 4,.. the crowd will tell you the story"... (kicks good, cannon fires, place erupts)

Hands down the best last few minutes of any homeClemson game

I was ever at. When UGA scored my room mate and I turned to each other and simultaneously said "Safety and a Field Goal". And that's exactly how it played out. So many things had to go right. Punter drop the ball on their goal line. Our defense stuffs them on the line, then catches Jackson in the backfield on an amazing, butt puckering safety. Then on the final drive I think Allen faced a 3-8 and pulls off a crazy cutback run to get us in range for the Dog Killer, Treadwell. And yes, pandemonium after the kick. It was Awesome. When asked about running a sweep on the goal line after the game, Dooley just said "sometimes you gain 10 yards, sometimes you lose 10."

OMG. Thanks for posting that. I'd seen it before but it's been a long time.
Brought it all back. I can remember just being frantic when Treadwell trotted on and took his time adjusting the tee and all. I remember seeing Danny on the field screaming at everybody to get off. All the people going crazy in the stands. Man...goose bumps.

the historical significance, were Georgia Tech and Georgia on back to back weekends in 1974. Part of the "then" big deal of an undefeated home season, and the first time we had beaten those two teams in the same season since 1902.
This was Coach Red Parker's best season, but even at that the record was only 7-4.
Funny the things you still remember almost 50 years on. Condredge Holloway will always be a four letter word to me. He was the Tennessee QB who brought them back to nip us in Knoxville that year, 29-28.That was the ONLY close road loss, the other three were uglee.
The Undefeated Home Season included a 39-21 dismantling of the Coots. But, just to show you how quickly the rivalry can turn, we all know what happened at the Roach the next year, our worst beatdown ever at the hands of the Coots, 56-20. I was sadly in attendance for that one, as well.

Even the security was partying. I got to drive my cousins 1970 fastback Mustang back to Pendelton because they had a little too much burbon.

"The Willie Underwood Game" is the official title of that

1980 win over the Coots. Also known as "The Game That Saved Danny Ford's Job". A lot of folks will claim amnesia now, but there were serious rumblings about sacking Ford after the disappointing 1980 season so far. The upset of the ranked Coots, who were bowl bound at the time, bought him another year. And, we all know what he did with that year in 1981 and beyond.

If we are talking in the Valley, 1981 game against the Dawgs and Hershal Walker and the 2003 FSU game when they came in ranked 3rd. One other, but was a loss was the 1977 Notre Dame game man that game got under the skin of Dan Devine because his player could not hear a thing and it was the start of us being known as one of the loudest places to play.

I will have to agree with you 100%... 1980 South Carolina and 1981 Georgia A close 3rd would have to be Syracuse in the come from behind game.

So I'm going more recent.
Definitely a toss up between the BYOG Notre Dame Rain Game and the epic Watson/Jackson showdown with Louisville. Those were two games that proved we belonged where we were.

The range of emotion in that game was as far as east is to west. The way the crowd came around in the 4th quarter and the team regained focus and ferocity, was truly something to behold. I believe that is the game that galvanized that team into a championship team

The home win over Syracuse's best team in their history after Trevor Lawrence was knocked out was determinant; without it, we likely miss out on the CFP and the consequential national championship that comes with it.
Similar to the last-minute home win against Louisville a few seasons before, the ones that would have stopped us from winning one of the 3 national titles are hard to rank lower than other games, IMO.

Beatin USuC... The Catch #2
May 27, 2021, 10:36 AM
|
|
When USuC was down on the goal line and fumbled the ball AND then recovered in the end zone to score the go ahead touch down. All the little pockets of USuC fans in the South Stands jumped up and down celebrating. They just knew that there was no time left on the clock for Clemson to score.
After THE CATCH #2 the crowd was going crazy. And when the ball left the kickers foot... about 1 second later the students on the Hill went crazy and then a split second later the rest of the stadium went crazy because Clemson had just kicked the field goal to win the game. I've never been apart of anything like that since...

I was there when Super Coot Sqeaky Watson fumbled into the End Zone for the go-ahead late and then here comes Woody and Gardner. A Clemson fan could just feel it. Maybe deep down the costs could, too. However, they were screaming push off in Death Valley. Hahaha

It is probably FSU 2007. They had just hired their million dollar coordinator, Dumbo Fisher, and Rob the Madman Spence (OC)/Vic bend till our D breaks, then throw them under/off the bus Koenning (DC) took it the Criminoles that Monday night. We had not beat them since they entered the ACC and we obviously not on par with their program in many ways but managed to bring home the W that Labor Day night. It was especially rewarding due to hearing all the Dumbo hype going into that season.

Not as old as y´all but mine are 2014 Coots, 2016 Louisville (I did something stupid this game, still awesome) 2016 NCSU, and 2018 Syracuse. The swag surf against Cuse late in the 4Q was one of my favorite things from that year.
