Define success for this team the rest of the year.

As we currently sit at 4-3, what would define a successful end to this season? Is there a number of wins that will define that (9? 10?), or just win certain games, or just showing improvement as defined by some key metric? What will constitute success in your opinion?

1. Get to a bowl. Let's face it, any bowl other than the playoff or a NY6 is a lower bowl. I might even say that a NY6 bowl isn't all that. They are all the same, they just matter in the final ranking. 2. Beat the coots. This is imperative. Without this, the season is a failure. 3. Win the bowl game. Not sure it matters against who, just win it.
4. Make adjustments. Build for the Spring. Come on Dabo, you know what needs to be done.

I'll go with Injun. Of course, we would like to be 9-3 regular season,

AND win the bowl game to keep the 10+ streak alive. I just don't see that happening with our anemic offense. They leave the defense on the field for too much of the game, so that they get gassed, even with our depth. So, we probably drop one more game, most likely Notre Dame. Beat the Coots, and everybody not nicknamed Leppy, win a bowl game, and move on at 9-4.

So you think a 4-3 team is going to win five out of six games?

Just looking like a quality team where we have faith for next year. Beating the coots as well. Maybe lose 2 more games max, but play well. I just want to be excited for next season.

4-1. And that 1 can be dirt peckers. Don’t really care as much about the bowl. Play lots and lots of freshman. See who wants to play.

I would say if we can avoid more than one more loss in regular season, and play good in a bowl, win or lose it would be a decent ending.

It will be a successful year if no one gets seriously banged up!
Success at Clemson is winning championships - - - that ain’t gonna happen!
Adding some enthusiasm and leadership for the future will be a BIG and much needed Move. It has to happen!!!!

Adding enthusiasm and leadership (and competency)would mean saying bye to at least 2 assistants .. it’s Dabo’s move to turn this ship around or allow it to continue to sink. It ain’t fixing itself, and more of the same equals more of the same, well.. probably worse..

Right now, success for this team is winning out and winning the bowl game. Go into the off season on a high note, something that has only been done once in the last 4 seasons.
If we drop one along the way, success is still winning out from that point

The team is 4-1-2.
Had they been mature/knowledgeable enough to know “You don’t win championships, you take them” both the Florida State and Miami games would have been taken (they were there for the taking) and the record would be 6-1-0.
So what I want to see is a team that has learned that lesson. Do that and the record will happen.

10 wins. 9-4 or 8-5 is good for GT or BC, but not for us. That would be a D or F grade for us in the ACC considering how many championships we've won recently. We are capable if we win turnovers, block somebody and tackle. We lost to Duke straight up but should have beaten FSU and Miami.

what would constitute a success for the remainder only, or what we'd have to do with the remainder to be successful overall?
I'd say losing no more than one - presuming that 1 was either ND or NC, would be a successful remainder. But to make the season a success overall, at least, compared to expectations, I think we'd have to win out. 9-3.

Ending the season under 20 plays from being undefeated. That way we’ll have a pretty good argument that we should have won our third natty under Coach Swinney

We will have a day when we play well and get an upset win, and it used to always happen at home in November.

as well as preseason expectations and what we spend on our football program. No ending to this season can change what a disappointing year it's been.
But with that said, I think 5-1 the rest of the way would be a great end to this disappointing season. That would put us at 8-4 with at least one win over a good opponent. I certainly hope that the 1 loss isn't to the freaking Coots again.
At this point, I view the rest of the year as an opportunity to coach up these players, build depth for next year, and hopefully end the year on a positive note to create some excitement going into offseason workouts.
