It would be a mistake for Shipley to go to the NFL right now.
He isn't ready.

he's a solid grinder, hard worker, seemingly a good kid, and has some athleticism, but not sure he's an NFL back.

Agree. I think he has just as good a chance at the NFL right now, maybe better,

than if he comes back. I don't see him being as heavily featured in the offense going forward as in the past. The continued emergence of Mafah, as well as hopefully an improved passing attack will dictate that.

Under the circumstances, I'm not sure another year will do much, if anything, to improve his draft stock.

I think most guys that go to the NFL fit the category of not sure he is NFL caliber. If Shipley does leave I'm pretty confident he will at a minimum make a practice squad and if he is NFL material it will show. Either way I hope for the best for him and am glad he is a part of the Clemson Family.

Unfortunately, I dont think staying another year would chance the math.

I just don’t see him as an NFL player at all. Maybe on a practice squad. We’ll see!

Seemed like players were having their goodbye moments with him after the Gator Bowl. RB is a tough position to play given the wear and tear on your body, and decreased value in the NFL. Ship took some vicious shots this season, so maybe he thinks it's time to move forward.

I saw him speak at a small awards event this season, and he said he was leaving. That may change, but he was pretty matter-of-fact about it.

I appreciate what Ship brought to our game

But I think our offense was better when Mafah was the featured back and we weren’t so concerned with splitting the carries to make everyone happy. We need a clear number 1 guy at RB and Mafah should be that guy. I wish Ship nothing but the best, but it may be time for him to move on.

i'd rather have both for depth and thunder/ lightning contrast.

injuries are big risk at RB. I think the competition makes both better. Ship has more big play potential to me with either catching the ball or breaking a 20-30 yarder. Wish he had a touch more speed. Mafah would be my choice in second half as defenses wear down.

Common misconception. Look who had more big runs on the season.

It was Mafah. He also has the longest run of the season and more rushing yards.

He already has his degree. He may be on the same program as DJU. 3 years and gone no matter what. But he has ruled out the transfer portal so it’s down to trying the NFL or returning or being finished with football since he has already graduated.
