What a ridiculous comment. Perhaps the area within a 2 mile radius of the Augusta National Golf Club is undesirable but within 20 miles you have 2 communities that are considered in the top 20 places to live in America. Columbia County, Georgia (Martinez & Evans) and Aiken, South Carolina are terrific places to live. I came here for a 2 year assignment in 1978 and have never found any place I would rather live. And I’ve traveled all over the country. And yes, the pictures don’t do the Augusta National justice. It’s the most spectacular 400 acres you’ll ever visit. Go Tigers!

Went there many times with my dad between 1970 and 78. Mom and dad would always go on Thursday, and I'd go with him on Sunday for the final round. I got to see some great champions.

It is really indescribable but I will say when I walked through the gates I felt I needed to take my shoes off. If you get the opportunity head down you won’t regret it. Looking at ticket prices I’m guessing I will never get back.

Its like going into a cathedral

My senior year at Clemson, I had Sunday tickets and took my non-golfing girlfriend. She bought golf clubs.
I was fortunate to go often as a child, when tickets were a bit easier. Managed to get my wife there, and got to go on another Sunday with my best friend, another first timer. What I would love more than anything would be to go back one more time with my son, who is a 24 year old budding golf nut. Hopefully it will happen someday.

It is an outdoor cathedral. Almost got arrested last year trying to buy practice round tickets at exit gate around Tuesday Noon. Too stressful so sitting out this year. Remember everyone has a “ chance” at getting tickets through lottery but probably you have better odds winning Mega Million.

It is true! This should clear it up!
The "lottery" opens 10 months before the Masters start, and applicants are given the option to apply for up to four tickets for any of the three practice rounds and up to two tickets for the four tournament days. Fans are only able to win one day.

Your application is placed into the lottery. Some people get picked several years in a row and others never get picked ……..luck of the draw. If everyone that applied got tickets, there would be a million people in there.
This may help explain it better……..
“The “easiest” way of obtaining tickets to the Masters is by entering into the Augusta National ticket lottery. This process which cuts off applications on June 1st is a lottery based system which randomly selects patrons to be eligible to purchase ground passes for specific tournament rounds. The first round of selections is for tournament rounds. Once these tickets are selected and sold, Augusta National will then move on to award practice round tickets. I myself have been waiting for about 5 years to try and get tickets through the lottery. May the odds be ever in your favor!”

This is incorrect. The "easiest" way is to have a family member become a full-time employee at the Augusta National. LOL

I know what a lottery is, you don't need to explain that. What you are really struggling to understand is that the lottery is available for both practice round and tournament round days. Not "only practice rounds" as you stated above.

It is beautiful in person. As beautiful as it is now I loved it more before they had to add the “first cut” of rough to Tiger proof it. The grass was the same perfect height all the way to the pine straw and they would mow half the hole towards the tee and the other half towards the green. It was visual perfection.

I've been fortunate to go three times through the lottery for two practice rounds and a Thursday session. I took a girlfriend that had never been on a golf course and she asked me if it was artificial grass it looked so perfect.
