How I see Godfrey's transfer

Were there $$$ involved, likely.
Were promises made by another school, likely, but what promises?
I think it's the opportunity to start at PF, his natural position. RJ would have started here next year, as an undersized 5. I think he would have done well in that role, but still it's not his natural position. So he'll play 4 next year for a fairly prominent school, and make some $$$ doing so.
I don't see RJ with an NBA future as 6'8 is very small for a PF in the league. Guards are 6'8. But every kid has that dream. Sheff will face the same obstacle. So good luck to RJ, he played hard for 2 years for us and was a key in the run this year. And I think we'll drop some NIL $$$ and sign a good big this year to pair with Sheff, like we did with Girard last year. Problem is we really need 2 more bigs in addition to a starter.
I think people who believe Beadle and Clark were tampered with are off the mark. Wiggins is going to start at 3, or we lose him, and his potential is pretty high. Beadle has just been passed, or will be, by the incoming freshmen. Good luck to them as well, each had their moments.
The portal has overall been very good to us. I think we'll see that play out again.

Seeing elsewhere another contributor for next year is thinking of transferring. Hope it’ doesn’t happen and I wonder who it is? This loss is manageable if we add the right players and I do understand it to some degree although I was really looking forward to seeing Godfrey play next year. Good luck to him and hope we have no more loses.

No clue who that would be

Wiggins seems locked in to start at 3, Sheff at 4. If Chase returns, which at this point I believe likely, a draw would be starting with his brother. All that really leaves is the 2 redshirts, and I guess that's possible, if they view who we're bringing in and will bring in through the portal as passing them by.

Sounds like you have a good perspective on the situation. My question would be: why wouldn't we play him at the 4 and get a 5 from the portal. We were going to have to go out and get a 4 if we put Godfrey at the 5, correct? Or am I not understanding.
Sounds like good news from the nctigs post concerning our incoming recruit. But it sounds like he'll need development next year before he's ready to start.

That's not changing. RJ backed up there and 5 this year. I get that he wants to start

He made some public comments earlier in the week where he hated this time with these players illegally being tampered with. Guess we’ll never know.
There are some studs in the portal. Arizona lost a good one too. Regardless of who returns at point guard that is a position of my concern. It was a big weakness in some of our conference games. Hemenway needs to hit it too. We need players! Enough with the “All airport team.”

loved RJ and hat to see him go. He would get plenty of PT and exposure at Clemson but if the I must start thing is driving this then good luck elsewhere. He's going to need to play in a way he is less foul prone where ever he goes.

I think there are a lot of schools where he knows he will play a bigger role

and almost certainly start. I think all of that is much less certain if he stays at Clemson. I think he would start some here next year, but I look for us to bring in a couple of legit bigs, one of which will be expected to start at C, and Scheffelin is a lock to start, as is Wiggins. I think RJ has tremendous potential, and would be a major factor next year for us, but he won't be penciled in as an automatic starter like he will be at a lot of other schools. Hate to see him go, but I'm sure Brownell and staff knew this was coming and have been preparing accordingly.

That's, apparently, why he left.

The part I do not understand is if he isn’t talented enough to start at Clemson how much NIL is someone going to pay him?
