His CofC team is 31-3 and won their conference tournament.
This is a seriously good team that only lost to UNC, Hofstra (Also very good), and a sort of bad loss to Drexel.
If Brad does not get us to the tournament this year, he may not get fired, but Kelsey is going to get hired somewhere and we could be left with Brad as our “best” option again. Like we did with Shaka Smart 8 years ago.
Brad will have seasons like this I promise you, but it’s never guaranteed. You have basically zero idea about how we’ll do before the season. Or you may think we should be very good, and we have a season like 2021-2022.
As oppose to taking a shot on an up and coming HC, who has been coaching for a long time, and end up benefiting greatly. The image is his resume. Will Clemson keep its mindset of “being content” with a guy like Brownell (in the case we don’t have a good run this year), or will they try to change things?

Didn't he recently get a contract extension at C of C ? If so, I would think his buy ouy would be substantial.

I am glad you keep trying but Brad isn’t going anywhere. Clemson is not going to let go of a coach who just set a school record for ACC wins for a season and is a finalist for coach of the year nationwide

We fired Bowden after an extension, raise, and after being a coach of the year finalist.

you don't get rid of a coach who detests recruiting. He made this declaration before NIL, so I'm sure he's now embraced all aspects of the process-–

I know he's having a pretty good season at Marquette, but his time at TX was lackluster. Being successful at a mid-major against other mid-majors doesn't always translate to P5 success.

Brad has been more successful than any other basketball coach we’ve had.

If you care about things such as total wins, ACC wins, ACC winning percentage, NCAA Tournament winning percentage, that is.

Marquette is NOT a MID MAJOR by any stretch.......
They are in the Big East with other traditional BBall powerhouses such as UConn, Villy, Butler etc.
And the Big East has been a better conference than the ACC for the past decade.

Marquette is ranked 6th in the country right now.
I think we could accept that level of "mid major" success.

His best season at TX was year 1

So let's give him a few more seasons before we say we missed out on him. I'm not trying to defend Brownell just saying the next great mid-major coach isn't a can't miss.

Maybe in a few years when Brownell decides to retire we can look at Pat but I don't think his tatto would fit in the ACC.

No more smaller college coaches getting their try-out in the big time at Clemson. Geez.
If Brad Brownell decided to leave tomorrow, I'd be going after Chris Beard or Shaka Smart.
