or did they intentionally try to run him up the middle while knowing that his best skill was catching the ball
when did the short quick pass quit being Clemson RBs lethal play. wasn't there a time when Clemsons passes were like runs
is Clemson Football calling plays that play to Cade's strength ...
how long has this been going on for? Is this why DJ looked bad ...
interesting topic if you ask me
**I wonder how much influence CJ Spiller being hired had to do with this. I wonder what Garret Riley will do. Was Matt Luke hired to force this all to just work. When did Clemson win football because of this.
Dirt Raid . Tennessee Passing Attack . what is the Clemson Offense these days???
I miss Jeff Scott's and Dabo Swinney's WRU I think everyone does.

We did use to use the rb pass as an extension more it seems, also when we needed it and didn’t have the best OLine, we would run that QB draw with Watson following the running back (Gallman) through the hole. Man did that really open up our offense.

IMO Shipley was somewhat overused -- he runs exceptionally hard so load management should have been a bigger consideration. Just my 2 cents.

Wheel routes etc,. out of the backfield take time to develop
Unfortunately our offensive line doesn't afford much of that

I do feel that Garrett Riley's play calling skills weren't the greatest, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt because it was his 1st season at Clemson. Too much short passing. The base of a solid passing game IS the vertical game, and I saw that he was afraid to allow Klubnik to be a "gunslinger". Thank God Phil Mafah "awakened" to be a brute force on off-tackle plays late in the year. Will Shipley is a better pass catcher than an off tackle runner, and he wasn't utilized well in that department. The Tight End was used by Riley in some instances, and it needs to be used more. I feel that this is the year where OC Riley must put up or shut up. With the new young talent Clemson is getting at the WR position, Excuses won't do it. He needs to rise to the level of his of his brother, Lincoln at USC and formally Oklahoma, who is maybe the best offensive mind in the country.

I'm not convinced that DJU was victimized by bad OC decisions. His play off the bench for Trevor Lawrence was the best he played in his freshman year, and when he got the starter's position he fell apart. He had the same offensive coach (Elliott) and couldn't produce. He had his chances, but couldn't get it done. When he went to Oregon St. he did ok, but not that much better than at Clemson. Now he's at Florida St., and he's certainly no Jordan Travis, because he can't beat you with his legs.(That leg injury ruined Travis' NFL shot). I have to agree with Tom Luginbill's (ESPN HS recruit spec.) assessment of DJ. He rated him lower than a 5-star out of HS.

Yes... but unfortunately he more often than not did not make the most of his opportunities. Dropped passes, goal line fumbles, and hitting the wrong hole plagued him his whole career.
I personally never have trouble with that last one...
