I like PJ. Seems like a good young man. He's a fine player and will be drafted and could be a good pro. But I keep hearing he's one of Clemson's all-time greats. He's good, and this is not a criticism of him. But it's more a thought that people don't appreciate the good players we've had. Just think about: Horace Grant Larry Nance Elden Campbell Dale Davis Tree Rollins Sharone Wright Trevor Booker Greg Buckner Terrell McIntyre K.C. Rivers Billy Williams Skip Wise Butch Zatezalo Aamir Simms Grayson Marshall Banks McFadden (way before my time)

Definitely, that's my point. We have had good players. I wouldn't put him in top 20. Maybe top 20. And there's nothing wrong with that. Just think there's some recency bias in the "Clemson has no basketball tradition." The program has been to the Elite Eight and the Sweet 16. A lot of programs have NOT done those that.

They're all Clemaon greats
They're all generational talents
There's room for them all including, PJ Hall
We'll miss when he's gone that's for sure. We'll miss for years to come.

Love PJ, but he will never play a minute in the NBA. He may have a nice career in Europe.

You must not have watched any NBA games in a while

He’s not gonna compete for a starting spot right away but he’s exactly the kind of guy they’re looking for to create mismatches

Curious what kind of mismatches he is going to create in the NBA. I doubt that he will get a chance. There is a reason he came back to Clemson this year.

I think PJ Hall's talent level and overall game more closely resembles a name

not on your list. PJ, to me, is a more talented version of Wayne Croft, a local product from Bamberg-Ehrhardt that played for the Tigers back in my era, mid 70's. Croft started out as a chubby high school kid, but by his senior year at Clemson, he had transformed his body, and was a serviceable big man in the ACC, in the days when there were a lot of GREAT big men in the ACC.
PJ may be more accomplished offensively than Wayne Croft was, but at least Croft had enough sense to realize that his game was INSIDE, not trying to launch bombs from the perimeter.
When you get right down to it, Hall is an enigma. At times, he plays like someone who could have a future in the NBA. But, more often, especially lately, he plays like someone who is just ready to run out the string and be done with basketball. He will most likely get his wish in one more game, unless he, and the rest of the team have a sudden epiphany. Cue deroberts and the High and Mighty Choir.

I was a freshman when he was a senior. He was (by then) the type of guy radiated toughness.

I agree with your list and your comments about Hall.
I would simply put him in the best of Brads era. He is not an all time great. Very good? Yes.

What a great list of some great players!
Hard to say we have no basketball tradition with guys like that.

We havent had many Clemson players be first team all-ACC.

We also haven’t had many players who have averaged over 18 points per game.
Players who have done both comprise a fairly short list.
