It seems like ever since he cried on television a few years ago his opinions have gone downhill. Now he says the National Championship game should be played in the Rose Bowl every year instead of rotating sites.

Agreed, stupid suggestion. If anyone ever attended a game in the Rose Bowl they’d know it is the worst football venue in the country. Parking, traffic access are both horrible but the seating and views from the seats are worse. Flat seating makes a midway up aisle seat tough to see over the bench. Like most thing’s California it sucks but the weather is nice.

I’ve never attended a game at the Rose bowl but it is on my list. It must be REALLY bad if it is worse than the Superdome in New Orleans.

I had heard it was best to fly in and fly right back out. Not a safe area to be a few miles away from the stadium. Think I will continue to avoid Cali and New Orleans.

I have always said the 2 places I never want to go are NY and LA. In my almost 61 years I have still not been to either. But the idea of going to a game in the Rose Bowl stadium might be the one thing that would cause me to go. Flying right in and out makes a lot of sense to me. Certainly don’t want to drive or spend any extended time there. I have a couple of venues still on my list after crossing off ND stadium last year. The Rose Bowl is one of them. Beaver Stadium at Penn St for a white out is another. And I think I’d like to go to Neyland Stadiun in TN just to experience the size. Of course all of these would have to include Clemson playing at these venues.
I hope we never play in the Superdome again. I am pretty sure I won’t attend if we do.

I agree that Herbie has had some bad takes lately and I think this one is bad as well but the reason is simple....Herbie is an Ohio State guy to the core and Ohio State has a lot of traditional roots with the rose bowl so thats probably why he is advocating for it

He probably has no idea how much more expensive it is for those of us on the east coast to travel there. And obviously doesn’t care.

The Rose Bowl when played in the afternoon presents as the most visually appealing mix of beautiful green grass, sunshine and shadows and team colors on your television. The Orange Bowl used to but is now in a mostly covered stadium and is always at night. The indoor venues suck out loud and Houston, Arlington and Indianapolis have zero link to bowl history. Tampa and Pasadena would be my alternating choices but the alcoholics will always want New Orleans thrown in the mix. Nobody cares about traffic around the stadium for a TV product. They need to move it back to a Saturday afternoon instead of Monday night at 8:30 that will inevitably end after midnight eastern.

If they upgraded the stadium seating, fixed the parking issues, and made it less expensive to stay there, I might agree with him. But until then, nope.

This is the first time since dirt that two teams west of the Mississippi are in

The final so they're taking their opportunity to float a stupid idea. More often than not it's gonna be two teams from the southeast so why should they have to travel 2,500 miles to play against a team in driving distance? When I'm watching a game I don't give two sheets what's happening outside the stadium; on the field is all that matters. The 1%er Neuheisel has also been banging his monkey about the Rose bowl for years.

Ann Arbor is well East of the Mississippi.
Like most problems in our beloved college football world, I see greedy money parasites as a big part of the problem. Having the parasites dictate that the National Championship must be held at one of their “private parasite club” stadiums causes problems.
I’d pick Orlando over ANY of the current locations they use, but I still hate turf. Camping World needs to tear up that diabolical turf and put down grass.

Herbstreit lost me a few years ago when he couldn't shut up about putting a one-loss UGA in the CFP after they lost the SEC championship game.
