for scrimmages against other schools especially during the spring. He argues that NFL teams have preseason games as does basketball. What is the the argument against this?

never really liked the idea of the pre season scrimmage, dabo even specifically once used georgia as an example saying wouldn't it be cool if we scrimmaged georgia......yes i can understand it may be good for coaches and tv to have a good opponent scrimmage.
but on the flip side of all that already had a bunch of injuries in the past without scrimmages, imagine getting a good player hurt for a pretend game. most of the nfl guys play very few snaps in the pre season. i can also see the fact these guys getting paid all this NIL money, more expected of them since there skipping bowl games etc, ultimately i'm still against games that dont count.

I wouldn't mind FCS games being moved to spring. As long as we're having spring games anything can happen anyways as far as injuries.
I imagine the starters would only play a half anyhow about like they do now

If preseason scrimmages were possible, I would only want to play against teams like Furman, Wofford, Citadel, etc. Of course, it would be great to play only the starters for a Quarter and let the 2nd team and the depth chart play the rest of the game. This builds depth going into the season and allows for the coaches to gauge where the team is from a training and development standpoint.

You think fans (of all teams) meltdown now over a spring game, play it against another team and watch what happens with fans when their team doesn't have the most points at the end of the scrimmage.

The NCAA has historically never required "reason" or "Common sense" when making rules and regulations, and especially when doling out punishments. UNCheat students do not even have to go to class for the past 30 years and there are zero punishments. You let Clemson try that one on for size and see what happens.

All it would take for a star player to tear an ACL on a cheap hit in a scrimmage against another team. Why go through the risk?
