Fan interest has dropped off due to two winning seasons in the last 20 seasons. We fired a good coach in Davis and made several bad hires. I had high hopes for Butler but she is struggling. Maybe the transfer portal.

She's making good strides. We would have been much better until the injury bug hit. Then we struggled. Losing Cluse and Kramer was the equivalent to loosing jg3 and sChiefflin... how good or bad would we have struggled if they were not available?
Both had height and could hit a 3, as well as assists. We would have turned at least 4, if not 5 losses into dubs.
We would have been a bubble team. Next season with imari and Kellerman if she makes a step, we'll be good. How good? It depends if Amanda can bring in a 6-3 inside player. If so, we'll be dancing 4 sure.

The thing I don't get is how you could have given up on CBB when we are having one of the best seasons in our history after having a 23-win season last year. So the results are what we have wanted but for you its too late as you have already given up. Not understanding your logic...

The Davis era ended badly, as well as oddly. I checked, and his last 3 seasons Clemson went 14-15, 17-12, and 8-20. The middle year in that run had Clemson sitting at 15-3, and a shoe-in for the NCAAT. At that point, Clemson lost 9 of 11, including a first round ACCT game, and a first round WNIT game. The collapse was complete next year with the 8-20 mark. I always thought there was a side issue of some sort, either within the program or for him personally during that stretch, though I never heard any rumors supporting that.

I always heard one of the players and her parents got mad at him and did what they could to hurt his recruiting and were successful.

That was quite a drop off, especially for how successful he had been.

I know it was an unpopular decision to fire him, but those last three seasons were pretty bad. It wasnāt unreasonable to move on, the problem has been in who has followed him.

I don't know what happened with Jim Davis, but he had the last winning season in Clemson Women's BB until Coach Butler's 2018-19 and 2022-23 seasons.

I recall a comment he made a year or two before his last season saying he needed to tone down his level of intensity with the players. Possibly that approach had turned off potential recruits.

She's bringing in top 25 classes. Some just haven't developed. May need a staff change or something for development. Hopefully Kramer takes her covid year.
As stated above is why we didn't make post season.

Nothing. Eliminate the program and put the extra money towards softball and gymnastics and baseball. Youāre welcome.

I don't think eliminating the program is an option but seems we are doing the next best thing by spending a minimum amount and accepting the results.

TV coverage has led to a huge growth in the popularity of WBB and a shortage of good, experienced coaches as well as a shortage of college-level ready athletes. The top-tier programs get all of the talent and the rest have to go through a long in-house growth of the program. Just like Dabos don't grow on trees neither do top-quality WBB coaches. I was going to mention what's her name downstate, but my fingers froze up and refused to type the name.

Anyone concerned with the thread starter's topic is heavily under the influence of DEI propaganda; anyone who responds with introspection has undergone DEI agenda indoctrination on some level. Embarrassing 'idgaf' topic for a football forum and even more embarrassing that many of you have an iota of concern regarding the topic..Good God(smh)!

I would be all in favor of that, except for the "also" part. Just let him coach the women's team, with an appropriate salary for that sport, and hire a new men's coach.

has not been up to snuff under her so far. She needs some serious talent to work with. Most of our games are two on five, the other three provide no offense, and little defense.

Hard to expect fans to support a program that has had 1 winning season in 20 years.
I think Clemson nation would come out to support womenās basketball if we were good. Especially since itās been so long now and it would be like a new novelty almost.
