what from the first 8 games didn't give you at least a SMALL clue as to our issues??????........................let alone all of last year, oh wait.....injuries were the misguided blame for last year's failures..........DJ is this year's..........so easy to see this coming

If Dabo had watched Clemson barely beat Syracuse and if he had watched ND completely destroy Syracuse, he might have seen it coming. Clemson (especially the offense) has been skating on thin ice all season, while the coaches whistled past the graveyard making excuses and trying to pump up DJ's confidence.

Dabo, I believe the words you are looking for are "i know the fan base is mad". For the last three years the team has been on the decline. You keep promoting mediocre coaches and hiring former players and friends. That is not working. What needs to happen is the AD needs to have a meeting and tell Dabo he is going to make changes or give the season ticket holders a refund for the subpar product that is being produced. DJ is not the entire problem but his lack decision making along with Div 3 offense plays is. Dabo now is the time to stop playing favorites and telling us that "they practice good". Practicing good is not carrying over to game day.

Grow up? What a joke of a comment. Do you think we should loose to an unranked ND team and Carolina? If you good with winning 10 games a year then thats on you but thats not the standard we have heard so much about. You must not see whats happening with the program. We cant recruit elite wrs anymore and we are looking horrible in offense.

Dabo has sold out to DJU all year... didn't like the phrase "DJ's team" the first time that I heard it and am fully sick of it now. This is Clemson University's team... belongs to the University, students, it's alumni, fans, and last but certainly not least it's financial supporters. Putting the responsibility of shouldering that on someone whose confidence is so fragile is as irresponsible as hiring 2 coordinators with no experience at a school with CFP caliber talent. Of course he did that too...

Perfectly said Razz. But I believe he HAS seen it, and either too proud to correct his mistakes, or doesn’t know how to. Gotta be one or the other, doesn’t it?

I know that I did, and hinted toward it a few times during the season, and I was talked down to bc of it, like I said though, it's not my fault that things have gotten the way they are, but I think we all now know why they are this way, and I see it as Dabo's project coordinator hires!!!

That was the high water mark. TL did not improve over freshman year. Slowly lost WRU. When Skalski &Co Graduated, dominating defense left. They are a hard act to follow, there’s certainly no shame in 11-1. But if last nights effort continues, 1 loss is a pipe dream.

Dabo has his head in the sand, been dragging the team back down to the awful ACC cellar for two years, but he keeps hiring his no talent want a be coaches, instead of proven coaches. He will play D J the next two games but I will not suffer through the clown show.

If the new standard is 10-3 seasons — extremely competitive in the ACC with occasional league titles, a top 15-20 ranking, and a nice bowl bid — then we’re right on track. If the standard is still “best,” there needs to be a lot of immediate introspection, from recruiting to use of the transfer portal to the coaching staff/coordinators to (short term) game-planning and the starting QB. I’m a believer—and there’s still hope for a 12-1 season and a NYD6 bid — but suddenly things are a lot more interesting and worrisome.

Yes and Dabo is not being paid at the level that we should expect a 10-3 season. That ship has sailed.

And he is not being paid to think that "At the end of the day, we're 8-1, not 5-3. We're 8-1, not 4-4."
He better be glad we are NOT 5-3 or 4-4. Does he really think we would settle for 5-3, 4-4? If so, that 10 million life time contract he thinks he has, needs to be ended.
Last night's game and the play of the Clemson team was not about a bad off night or the way the ball bounced. It was about the past season of really poor QB play and missing the playoffs and the ACCCG. And more of squeaking by weak teams this year. There was absolutely nothing good about last night's loss. From the opening offensive series we looked lost and we never looked like we could come back and make the game even close.

In what world do you see that happening?! You think UNC is a win in Charlotte when the defensive coordinator is incapable of making adjustments?! Maye will eat our lunch. The way UNC is playin defense, DJ won’t be able to do anything. He can’t make the gimme throws. It’s too late to bring on Cade. The plan should have been play Cade second half of first three games. Game four; Cades the starter. By now, Heisman talk and 400 ypg passing. The biggest mistake was promoting Goodwin when there are MANY capable defensive coordinators available with proven records. However, these last two seasons have caused parity we haven’t seen in a long time. Covid has created the “super senior” which has given the have nots opportunity to close the gap on elite programs. The NCAA is allowing these super seniors to not count towards the 85 scholarship players. Once this plays out, in two more years, elite will be elite again. My only worry is that it will level recruiting fields and we may lose our elite status. Add all the aforementioned arguments and even Bama is feeling it. It’s painful to watch DJ play.

The fact that you think a few easily 2nd half drives for Klubnik would suddenly make him elite for the home stretch is laughable. DJ ain’t the main problem and Klubnik is still a deer in headlights out there. He may be ready next year but likely 2024

DJ will be our QB next year - he’s not draftable, and no other team wants him. He’s got eligibility left and he knows Dabo will fold to his and Big Dave’s demands.
I see a scenario where he plays next year, GA for us in ‘24 and probably our QB coach by 2026, OC a year or so after that.

Recruiting is a concern. What top tier offensive recruit watched our pathetic offense against ND and thought, “Yes, a want to sign up for some of that” ? Our OC and “hired from within” coaches appear to be biddys in high weeds. If you didn’t see this coming, you must not have been looking, everyone else did.

I agree with everything except the transfer portal point. Anyone who doesn't want to be a Clemson man from the beginning doesn't belong here.
I can't believe the play calling for the offense last night. If that's as good as Streeter can be in such a big game...we need a new OC... today.

One thing that is almost eternal, with the exception of perhaps Alabama, is that college teams ebb and flow in multi-year groupings. FSU was a powerhouse, but no longer. Syracuse was one decades ago. I see Clemson ebbing, not precipitously, but we are not getting the five star athletes in significant numbers, and even in the ACC each game is a bit more chancy than before. It is not a huge drop off, but I sense it and I see it. Not to say we are heading to ordinary, but the dominance is just not there this year. It is a gradual erosion. The question is whether it will continue. A game like last night on national television does little to encourage the most talented high school athletes to consider us vs Georgia or Alabama or even Notre Dame. Are we coming or going, riding an incoming or receding tide? Last night may hurt in ways we cannot currently envision.

So many years of DOMINATION with occasional hiccups. It's slipping. I hope last night was the wake up call. I hate to doubt Dabo promoting internally, and maybe long term its the right thing? The growing pains of these guys is so painful. Our players deserve better. I still believe in Dabo, but I hate to say it, not as much...
As an alum, ive seen so many worse days. I remember a wake game up there where we looked this bad some years ago. But they made a change bc it was so embarrassing. I hope they make the changes needed NOW, not next season.
Go Tigers!

Dabo seems oblivious to the fact that our program has declined.

Since hitting our high point four years ago by beating Alabama 44-16 to win the national championship, we have been losing ground compared to the elite teams in college football.
Now, we routinely struggle against teams with far less talent than we have and who honestly have no business being competitive against us.

Agreed. Clemson and Alabama were the elite tier of the sport for five years. Now that tier still includes Alabama, but no longer Clemson. We’ve been replaced by Georgia and Ohio State, while Michigan, USC, and others may soon surpass us as well. We are trending in the wrong direction.
Dabo can afford to be stubborn when we are undefeated- even if we’re just scraping by. But I have confidence that if we continue to slide, he’ll make some hard decisions. He proved he’s capable of doing so (the Napier firing, for instance). Dabo is not going to let relationships stand in the way of championships. He is more ruthless than people, us included, give him credit for.
I’m probably in the minority- and I hate the way we lost- but the silver lining is that we won’t get embarrassed in the playoff and can still have a good season- beat SCar, potentially win the ACC. I have no doubt that if we don’t win the ACC, Dabo is going to shake things up.

By my math, Bama played for a title last year and has lost to two top ten teams- on the last play of both games no less. Bama could easily be 9-0. They didn’t get blown out by an average team like we did.

ND isn’t an average team not matter how you spin it. They are inconsistent but they have great athletes all over the field. They are one of the few teams to keep it close with Ohio state this year and it wasn’t because of fluke plays.

And currently unranked Texas A&M by 4. They could just as easily be 5-4 as 9-0.
PS: And don’t forget, that top ten loss to LSU was a to Tigers team that lost earlier to FSU, a team we beat.

I had lunch with a client this week, he is a fellow Clemson grad. We were talking some Clemson football, and he said he thought Notre Dame would crush us (he is no DJ fan). I thought it was an odd statement, but apparently he knows something the rest of us don’t.

Year #2 of the same crap. We've just been lucky this year to be where we are. This would/will never stand up against a team in the Top Tier of FBS. My comments are not just because we were blown out last night, this is almost 2 years in the making:
1 - Streeter is not ready for an OC position. His overall game plan is like midget football 2 - DJ is NOT a good QB and will not get drafted early if at all. He is slooooow and a 50-50 on passes 3 - We have no downfield passing game. How is this possible at Clemson with our history? 4 - Shipley is great, but it's like we forget he is on the team often in a game 5 - Our secondary, while inexperienced in many positions, can't cover a passing team
Etc...etc...etc... This is not good.

As a life long fan who started going to games about 60 years ago, losing a game is not the end of the world. We have been at the top of the mountain for 6 or 7 years now and there is no reason to think we will still be there at the end of the year. Unless a bunch of crazy things happen, we will not be in the Playoffs but Dabo can lead us to another ACC Championship and Top 10 ranking at the end of the year. There are 100 teams that could dream of that.

I saw this happening and said so here. DJ needs to hit the portal. He should have taken himself out of the game as a leader. Cade couldn't have done worse. He was put in once. Once! Yes, he threw an interception, but DJ came right back in and...threw an interception. Dabo, quit putting resources into DJ. Read the writing on the wall, man. Maybe consider the portal now, or put the resources into Cade. That kid needs a chance or he's going to leave. Seriously. We dropped 8 spots on the AP. E I G H T. Alabama is ranked higher than us with TWO losses. Come on! Dabo, I know you read this, your defensive coach didn't see what we saw at home??? Notre Dame ran the same freaking plays on both sides of the ball, and Wes couldn't correct for that???? Streeter may need some coaching to coach Quarterbacks...or maybe you just need to hire someone with more experience. Whatever is going on, you need to look at it with an OBJECTIVE eye, not your emotions. I know that can be hard, but life is hard and you can please everyone, but you sure do need to please the fans...they are your money makers.

How about announcing a QB competition, split practice reps?

I don't get to watch practices, but it seems like Klubnik hasn't been given a fair chance to compete for the starting job. Ever since the spring game ended, Dabo immediately said that DJ is the starter and that "DJ has not done anything to not be the starter"-- even though, after just a few weeks on campus, Klubnik performed at least as well as DJ (if not better) and Klubnik looked to have a much higher ceiling with a DW4-esque style. Ever since then the coaches have seemed to protect DJ's ego with comments about how he's our guy, rather than saying that there's an open competition (like there should be for any position). Even in cupcake games, they've left DJ in too long-- not giving Klubnik many (if any) reps with the ones. And Dabo let DJ score a TD against BC in garbage-time (poor sportsmanship), instead of getting Klubnik some experience. It seems like the coaches are spending all of their effort to protect DJ's ego and to get DJ up to speed, rather than giving Klubnik a fair chance to win the job. Bringing Klubnik in cold to impossible situations (like @ND, trailing with his heels on the goal line) is not a great plan to groom a 5-star, 3-time-state-champ freshman QB.
I'd love to hear Dabo say that there is an open QB competition and that DJ & Klubnik are getting equal reps with the ones.

Who is really calling the offensive plays, Streeter or Dabo? Dabo always has the play card in his hand and covers his mouth with it when he’s talking into his mic.

Come on Razz, you know Dabo could say there will be open competition but doesn’t mean it’s actually happening. I love Dabo but he’s not exactly 100% honest with the fanbase. Call it what you want - standing up for his guys, building them up, trying to keep a competitive edge on opponents by not letting the full truth out, whatever. I’ve come to take his comments with a grade of slaw. Like believing a guy is the next coming of (inset name here) - I believe it when I see it on the field. It’s just the way Dabo operates - I’m not calling it good or bad because each will have their own opinion.

It seems like that’s the only time we play well. The games haven’t been fun to watch at all.

Only wanted one thing for my Tigers and that's to be competitive that all just be with in a touch down or field goal at the end...what i saw last night was complacencies plain and simple. I'm guessing that was the best the coaching staff can put on the field if that's true then someone needs to step back and do some soul searching. These are some fine young men your putting on the field but i'm not seeing any kind of fire in them and that's on the coaches ....i would rather have some very hungry 2 and 3 stars that are willing to play football that a bunch of collided NIL players and a bunch of coaches that are just happy getting pay checks....my two cents worth

Dabo’s biggest issue right now is his ego. He needs to make difficult decisions and his past success and big salary are blinding him.

I think we need the changes mentioned. We also need a new strength coach. George Dostal is probably dead. To many injuries. The missed tackles looks like our players are being ran over. We look weak all over the field. I see no muscle mass even on the lines. Strength matters along with nutrition. Goo Tigers!

Had I not been w/ the nice group of Tiger fans that couldn’t stand his drunk/rude ###, his night would’ve been much worse. The days of calling someone a “Yankee” have long since passed. You insulted a number of Tiger fans all of whom witnessed you acting like a 65yo child. Get some help please. Clemson Nation stand up and let’s hold this person accountable - he wore glasses and looked the part of the warden from Shawshank. Classless to say the least.
