Totally agree. I wasn't expecting to be in the top 4 (maybe 5 or 6), but we stack up very favorably. I was surprised that the committee thought AL's schedule was that tough. I didn't see that, at all, but we all have more games to play. A lot more critical matchups this week and beyond. This should be fun! Go Tigers!!!

It will happen, but we deserve it as much, or more, than anyone else this year. Our quality wins were better than most, for sure, and we don't get the benefit of conference affiliation to pad our status like some others so favorably mentioned all year long.

Honestly I think the committee should wait 2 more weeks.
Even their rankings don’t mean anything at this point obviously but I I was expecting to be 5 or 6.
Just take care of business.

The computers and advanced statistics like us

People that vote weekly do not.
It proves what I have long thought, which is the AP and other poll voters are big on the eye test.
Michigan looks great, but they haven’t played anyone other than Penn State. Penn State didn’t look good against Ohio State.
Clemson‘s SOS and SOR are better than Michigan. We are better on paper. We just haven’t passed the eye test at times. A lot of that is our own fault! Most of it is to be honest!
I think this is where we belong, but I am a little bit surprised. But it shows that the committee looks at things that are important.
We now know we control our own destiny! Win and we are in!

I agree with your take on Michigan, but think the same applies to OSU... only one win over a team currently ranked so I don't understand their "strength of schedule" being so high... I felt like Georgia should have been ranked ahead of them. Looking at the number of Big 10 people on the committee the reasoning for them being #2 is pretty clear to me (at least).

I am glad we are at #4 but I was a little surprised by it. I thought Michigan or TCU would be 4th because the losses by Syracuse & Wake Forest who we beat could have hurt us. Now Clemson needs to take care of business & beat the Irish. Go Tigers!

We've always controlled our own destiny

That said, we can always get jumped or bumped. As the committee is stating SOS and SOR is a big factor. So concievably you could still end up with 3 SEC teams, or 2 B1G teams.
Based on these metrics if NC State continues to lose which they will and wake/cuse continue to slide, our metrics will also slide. Yes, like it or not, make jokes at will, we need Beemer to win at SCar.

Clemgala. That's what I've been saying but have gotten roasted for it. The Coots and UNC could control Clemson's destiny. They need to keep winning.

of conference championships. Michigan and every team in the SEC but 1 will find that out.
The most misranked team on this list is LSU. They are ready to bump them up with a win over Bama since they would then be in the SEC West driver seat. I would not be surprised if FSU doesn’t win out and get ranked at some point along the way. In fact, I’d have them in before Texas now.

I don't really care about any game they play, besides the one with us where we stomp a mudhole in their backsides, but I see your point, and I agree. Beating a team who has beaten some good teams is a plus. Now, this week's coot game will prove nothing, but maybe others might help. I just want us to be the best we can be. Do that, and I think we will be fine. Go Tigers!

C'mon man ! You surely cannot believe that Clemson has shown itself to be the #1 team in the country.
You are like a mirror porojecting your bias onto others.

Have you ever paid attention to the national game? Everyone has looked bad at times. Georgia looked like crap against Kent State, of all people. Clemson is one of the better teams no doubt about it.

I'll call out ESPN and the media bias but Clemson should not be number one. Let's pick our battles when there is actually a fight to be had. Clemson at 4 is very fair at this point.

Yea and ESPN's joke of a Playoff projector afterwards had Tenn 59.8%, OSU 70%, GA 70%, Clemson 51.1%, Michigan 50.7%, Alabama 51.7% of making the playoffs....even being undefeated we have less of a chane than Alabama of making the playoffs...gotta love the ESPN-SEC Love...

Their bias is out there for all to see. A couple of those teams will suffer a loss before the year is over. I guess they forgot about that.

It was weird…

Very interesting. I can't disagree with too much. It is surprising to simply view the ranking list. On Clemson's behalf, I think they are unlucky in that they have played teams at their peak (NC State before their QB went down, Wake before they regressed). Now they have three games that a few weeks ago would seem to in the bank and won't get very much rewarded if they win. Notre Dame, Louisville, and South Carolina aren't the automatic pushovers they were earlier in the year.
