I was watching Jeopardy tonight as I do almost every night and thought of something that couldn’t be possible ... but it apparently is. I bet a lot of you will remember this.
When I was a high school kid in the late 50’s TV was still in its infancy when compared with today’s vast networks.
My mother watched all the variety and game shows and, of course, so did I. I remembered that there was an announcer on almost all of these shows named Johnny Gilbert who was mentioned at the conclusion of EVERY show. I noticed tonight that Johnny Gilbert is the announcer for Jeopardy but I was sure it had to be another. Believe it or don’t .... but it’s the same guy. He is 95 years old and sounds exactly as he did when he was in his thirties. So, if you are a senior citizen as I am, there is always hope that you will still be kicking high as the years creep up! I’m going to celebrate with more glas of Reisling before I call it a night.
GOODNIGHT YOUNGSTERS.

Back in the 1950s and early 60s, every TV program was good. When we first got a TV, we could only pick up the original Charleston station, but every program was enjoyable for the whole family.
Then, the second Charleston station started, and we had mild family arguments about which program we would watch. When shows' seasons ended in the spring, we watched reruns of the original shows we didn't see. The new season began in the fall.
TV producers knew what they we doing back then, and actors were good. Even the few, short commercials were enjoyable.
Today's TV is nothing but trash and trashy commercials. I have not watched a regular TV program in many years. If it wasn't for college football and an occasional golf tournament, I would never turn on a TV.
