All the more a special talent when you know he played a right-handed designed guitar left-handed with the strings upside down.

Nuno was a beast, bet old Reb here can drink an entire 12 back, puke inside his own mouth, and not miss a beat, that is a totally different Genre. Shame he played for one of the worst bands of all time, but the dude is hilarious.

If that’s the criteria I’ll take CC. Those ladies got tore up and she was a trained classical guitarist.

Buckethead, in the past, put out about 180 30minute guitar solos a year.

A guitar solo that may not be one of the greatest. but it's my favorite is Rick Derringer's "Back in the USA". It's on the Edgar Winter and White Trash album named "Roadwork" from the early 1970's. It was a live album.

thinking it was 1973-74, not long after the song Frankenstein was a big hit. Me my buds have debated whether his guitarist that night was Rick Derringer or Ronnie Montrose. Can't go wrong either way.

It was before Frankenstein, I think around 1972. I believe Montrose played on "They Only Come Out At Night" album and some early live shows, then he went solo so Rick Derringer replaced him. I saw Edgar Winter Group live at the Philly Spectrum with Wet Willie and the Allman Brothers (after Berry Oakley died).

you're probably familiar with the Johnny Winter And live album. He has Rick as his sidekick, some pretty nice back-and-forth. "We gonna get a little funky and do some blues for you right now."

I saw Johnny Winter And live in Philly also when Rick Derringer was with him. Redbone and the Allman Brothers Band opened for him. I also had the album then later in life the CD

It is a great solo but for my money it's Larry Carlton's solo on Steely Dan's "Kid Charlemagne". The tone, the seamless way he plays over Donald Fagen's intricate chord structure is unreal. Then at the very end the note that comes out of nowhere is nothing short of genius. Larry Carlton may be one of the most underrated guitarists of all time (unless of course you are a guitarist or a music producer).

I will humbly submit this performance at Earl's Court in London in 1994 is the best. Well worth the 10 minutes...

I love Pink Floyd. I love Lynyrd Skynyrd. Etc. I really do. Love them.
But NONE, I repeat NONE could (a) play at the level Edward could much less (b) imagine and build their own Franken-guitar as a teenager and play it their whole career as a rock 'n roll legend.
Please. Let's be real here.

everybody stop to watch him play. Just a guitar plugged into an amp. No distortion, feedback, pedals, etc... just nice clean picking, and perfect notes. You know to tell a great guitarist?... they use their little finger.
Here's another one I like, and he ain't no spring chicken here either. Killer stuff around 1:00 mark.

attention, and many of us were not. We were too absorbed with Hendrix, Duane, SRV, Jeff Beck, Carlos, Clapton, etc. Roy Clark, like Glen Campbell, was not on our radar because they were "country music". Check him out here on the old Odd Couple TV show. The man could play...

time tomorrow. There are so many great jazz guitarists, I don't even know where to start. For example, let's go with Lenny Breau. Imagine if he was using all the "special effects" the rock guys used and was plugged into a big stack of Marshall amps. It would be mind blowing. "Tapping" and "shredding" would be elementary stuff to guys like him...

I guess I never did enough acid to get into Pink Floyd much. I know a lot of guys that love them, but I never was much of a fan.
