Does anyone consider GT to be one of our biggest rivals??

Nov 11, 2014, 12:06 AM

If you ever talk to a GT fan they despise us! They consider us to be their 2nd biggest rival other that UGA. I really do not have much disdain for them, and consider FSU to be a much bigger rival. What about you guys; Is GT our biggest conference rival?

we have several conference "rivals"...but the top 3 are definitely FSU, GT, and NCST.

Not for the last few years.

GT
FSU
NC State

You could make a case for a couple others, but I think these are our 3 ACC rivals. Might put FSU ahead of GT if the Jackets don't begin competing on the national level more consistently and us and FSU do.

Has to be FSU, Ga Tech, and NC State IMO.

Yes. Very much so, if you have been to the GaTech games the last 15 years you can feel it in the crowd. They have replaced UNC who was a huge rival until ACC expansion.

I have been to several Clem/GT games over the past 15 years. I have even been there a few times and there was a much different vibe from about 00-09. Since then I have not felt that same vibe here. The last 5 years of the rivalry has been kinda stagnant.

I have friends who are UGA fans who complain about Tech fans thinking they are better than everyone. And when you look at the history of our games with Tech, there seems to be some evidence of their superiority complex. They never wanted to play Clemson at Clemson. They refused to do so until they joined the ACC. For that reason, and because historically they have dominated this series (though who knows what the record in the series would be if half the games were played in Clemson), I consider them a true rival.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

GT first game in Clemson was 1974. Joined ACC in 1983.

Nov 11, 2014, 1:38 AM

The 1977 game in Atlanta was supposed to be the last in the series. It was the first time Clemson fans took $2 bills stamped with Tiger Paws to an away game, to show the value of the Clemson fanbase. Tech began ACC league play in 1983 and the series continued.

We're not like UGA we don't have 50 rivals

Nov 11, 2014, 1:59 AM

The Coots are our rivals and the only other team I consider a rivalry is UGA, but with us hardly playing them anymore and (as previously mentioned) with UGA having like 50 rivals I'm not so sure how much they are anymore.

There are definitely some teams I love to beat more than others, FSU being one of them, but I don't consider any of them rivals. Just conference opponents. That includes GT.

Currently: SCar, GT, FSU, & NCSU

Nov 11, 2014, 4:59 AM

Georgia is a former and classic rivalry with Clemson, but not anymore.

NCSU doesn't feel like much a rivalry either.***

I don't consider anyone our rivals except USCjr and FSU. The others are just games in my opinion.

By far they are our longest rival.

The Clemson–Georgia Tech football rivalry is an American college football rivalry between the Clemson Tigers football team of Clemson University and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets football team of Georgia Tech. The Tigers and Yellow Jackets first met in 1898, and have played annually since 1983. Clemson won the first four games of the series between 1898 and 1903, but Georgia Tech leads the all-time series 49–27–2, including a dominant 32–3 run during a sixty-five year period between 1908 and 1973.

People seem to forget the years before with ga tech like the

Nov 11, 2014, 8:34 AM

year we played them in the championship. I put ga tech above fsu simply because of proximity and the disdain both fanbases have for each other. Ever since we shat the bed against the criminoles last year people have decided fsu is our second rival one even put them over USuCk but they aren't, to me fsu is simply the biggest game of the season against a team I don't like. Fsu is a rival don't get me wrong but a lot of that's the history with bobby Bowden and the Bowden bowl and these past 2 years, I most certainly consider ga tech a bigger rival than fsu and many others would too if they would look past these past couple of years and look at our history with ga tech. I do not like fswho in the least bit but I hate ga tech, to me rival means a team/ fanbase like USuCk and ga tech and even georgia are closer to that than fsu. If we played georgia every year they'd go straight to number 2 biggest rival, out of all the away games ive been to and all the fans ive ever met Georgia's home crowd was the worst, those rednecks actually bark at you... Grown men and women with their children barking at other adults. I hate every team from georgia. You too georgia southern,

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Due to proximity, I consider GT a big rival.

Nov 11, 2014, 9:30 AM

Like SCar, I want them to lose every game (unless GT is playing SCar)

If you have ever been there and been around those snot nose a holes you'd consider them a rival.

GT is a waste of land in the state of GA

Absolutely they are!! Geographically we are close,

Nov 11, 2014, 11:46 AM

we recruit some of the same players although we usually get the more highly rated prospects. They are able to get guys that fit well into their system which makes them a tough opponent.

I do not feel any disdain for GT, as a matter of fact I find it to be a good solid rivalry. It is not generally a heated rivalry, but a good spirited mutual respect rivalry which has had some great moments and great games over the years.

FSU is more heated b/c its a huge stage against a national power. Lamecocks is just bad blood where winning makes everything better!!

Go Tigers!!
