I thought speed on the bases might be an issue because our guys are so big and stocky. We had speed on the bases last weekend, but I think we only attempted stealing second maybe twice? Probably because their catcher had a cannon.
Need to see more pitching, but our hitting was so good that it made up for the runs they scored. It was hard to evaluate how good Xavier’s batters were with no batting average or only a few at bats.
What about Cam Cannarella? I think he ended the weekend batting over .500 and I know he had at least 5 RBI’s, maybe more. Where can we go to see total stats for all three games.

Xavier was not a bad team. The first 5 guys in their batting order are seniors and it showed. However, our pitching and defense were able to work around the jams they got into. Plate disciple was good for our batters. Cam continues to impress. He tracks fly balls extremely well.
Sunday's game got a little sloppy for Xavier - 4 errors. And, Clemson committed 4 errors over the series, but nothing that can't be corrected.
Hopefully, we will continue to improve. The ACC is going to be tough this season.

Control by the pitchers could be an issue if it does not improve. They all seem

Respectfully disagree. The only pitcher that consistently worked from behind was Knaak a freshman. The Tigers gave up 12 walks the entire series. Knaak had 3, and Marchal had 3. The Tigers struck out 29.

Yeah, Xavier is pretty bad. Strong teams always try to schedule weak teams in the opening weekend so they can get off to a good start.

Xavier was a tournament team last year and beat Vanderbilt in Nashville. They are picked to finish 2nd in the Big East. So they are not a terrible team. I won't go so far to say they are great but I wouldn't call them bad either.

Yea they were no Miami (OH) that’s for sure 🤦♂️ Xavier may not be an Omaha bound team but returned a lot of guys that knocked vandy out in Nashville so yea they are a solid program… better than most teams play opening weekend and we handled them relatively easy. Usually the first week or so you never know bc of the pitching and hitting outside of scrimmages but I was happy with what I saw especially being that we didn’t even throw one of our top starters from last year in Gordon… and didn’t see Darden either.

The reason for not as many steals is because Reily Bertram is a coach with Xavier now, and he knew a lot of the tendencies for this team. Bakich addressed this in one of his post game interviews I believe. In other words they had to play this series a little different from what they will in the future. To answer your question I didn't see any real weaknesses either. Certainly some things to work on ( left the bases loaded to end an inning 7-8 times in the series), but this team seems to be pretty solid from top to bottom. Pitching is vastly improved and the only weak spot over the weekend was Knaak who is a freshman and he has plenty of stuff just needs better command of the zone, which is to be expected of a freshman. Still just one series. We will know more after the South Carolina series, which should be a good test.

I didn’t see the games, but it sounds like a few singles the other way might have been a good idea to plate a few extra runs.

On Sunday Xavier booted the ball around a bit and let us off of the hook a few

I agree, but if anything it’s the Sunday backup starter, I guess😂
There really is only a small amount of weaknesses for this team, which I why I predicted 50 wins.
