That this team was not that good and the majority on this board said , WELL EXPLAIN OUR TOP 5 RANKING
My response was we have only played one ranked team in over 6 weeks and that was against #20 Georgia and we lost. We are only winning games when we are playing garbage teams but every time we play someone decent now we lose and that will continue to happen

This is all true. I think tbe fan base has fallen victim to expecting Omaha is his 1st or 2nd season. Relax! Ain't happening. This team is good, but more like top 15-20 goodish.... Not top 5 the schedule has shown those of us who are realist this very thing. Backich is the guy, but it's not This season and most likely not next. It's gonna take him 4 ir 5 years to get us where some of you want today!!

More like next year. Not 4 or 5. That’s way too long to wait for Omaha in today’s game with the transfer portal. Heck we should’ve been in Omaha last year. Had Tenn beat. Would’ve had a home super vs southern miss. We aren’t far off at all

I wouldn’t say we aren’t a good team but I also knew this was coming. Our pitching was going to catch up to us. We play a team with legit pitching and there you go. This is the type of teams we will see in post season. Brag about stats and regular season accolades all you want but all that matters is getting back to Omaha. Dice it any way you want but Bakich has to get us back to Omaha or he’s no better than Monte. Time will tell if he gets it done this season or the next couple. I’ll hold my breath.

Lost on the road to a future regional host who was pre season #1 in the nation, hit a cold streak, and a team that nobody would be surprised if they made it to Omaha.
You guys shouldn’t be surprised if we not only make a regional, but Omaha.
It’s baseball, there are no guarantees.
I will say that if we lost a game in a regional it would be hard to come out of the losers bracket and win two against a good team. That’s why that game with Tenn last year was so crucial, has we won it we likely would’ve been in Omaha.

This team has warts that we’ve all known about most of the season, but they are fun team to watch compete. Anyone who’s watched college baseball knew we didn’t have the pitching since the FSU heroics. This weekend has just cemented the reality of what pitching looks like for CWS csliber teams. There still isn’t three solid weekend starters and every pitcher out of the pen is a project for Bellanger to figure out. It just isn’t there yet. However, this team competes and can win games against average conference pitching. It’s not a top 5 team in terms of having all tools in the toolbox. That will have to come with more recruiting and development. All of above is the honest truth. Bakich certainly would concede.
Now here’s what’s important. This staff is leaps and bounds above the Monte Lee staff. There’s a plan and Bakich knows what he’s developing. Monte was way over his head and clueless how to develop a team. Right now the Tigers are punching above their weight class. Try to enjoy the wins and the attitude of this team. They believe in what Bakich is building. They typically respond well to adversity. I expect they finish strong next weekend against BC and hold down a good seed for the ACCT. They even hold onto the division with the tiebreaker over FSU.

100% agree , great post!! This is the realistic view most baseball fans see. Yes we aren’t there yet but this program is so far behind what it was under Lee it’s not even a conversation. Bakich knows where the weaknesses are will develop and get it fixed. We went from barely making the tournament worried about being embarrassed to a first year acc champ and two straight national seeds…pretty dang good if you step back and look at what he’s done and only shouldn’t better.
