Any of you fishermen ever caught a freshwater clam

on a crappie jig? Happened to me today- I knew the jig touched the bottom of the lake and when I reeled it in the jig was entirely inside a large clam except for the very end of the hook. Had to use a knife to pry it open far enough to get the jig out. Those things are tough to open!

and yeah, I've caught a few with my jig. Never used a knife on one, but I'm open to new things.

I used to find them with my feet and pick them up.... they were called mussels, LOL. Never hooked any tho....

I caught 3 yesterday on a carolina rig fishing Santee, not uncommon.

Mussels-yes. Blue catfish love them and in the Diversion Canal many of them eat them almost exclusively. I have hooked mussels in the Diversion Canal several times while bottom fishing for cats.
