I'm really tired of everyone bashing the basketball program.

Brad Brownell works his tail off, despite having fewer players on his team, fewer coaches, and fewer fans compared to the football team. He's also paid a lot less than Dabo.
Despite these significant disadvantages, he manages to consistently score more points and win more games than our football team does.
Brad has won 218 games at Clemson, while Dabo has only won 150. Yet Brad gets almost no credit here.
It's time we start giving credit where credit is due.
Go Tigers!

It’s a lot easier to win a national championship in football.

[ in reply to Re: I'm really tired of everyone bashing the basketball program. ] |

There are only 131 schools in FBS for football, while there are 358 teams in college basketball’s division 1.
As you can see, there are a lot more teams competing for a national championship in our division in basketball compared to our division in football.

with a chance to win the national title.
4 teams are invited to the football playoffs with a chance to win a national title.
Dabo has taken his program to 6 of 8 playoffs.
Brad has taken his program to 3 of 12 playoffs, and one of those was with Purnell's players.
It's obvious you're being a pathetic, attention-starved troll, but at least try to make some sense when you do so.

letting Lee go might let Brownell know it's time to step it up.
As far as comparing him to Dabo, go by winning percentages not games. Football plays less than half of what basketball plays.
I would love to see more life with our BB program. Whether it's Brownell or someone else.

So it’s even more impressive that Brownell’s teams have scored more points than Dabo’s.
And let us not forget that scores in football are worth 6 points or 3 points, while in basketball they are only 2 or 3 points. So our basketball team is scoring more points per game, despite having to score many more times.

C’MON MAN! Playing more games per season gives Brownell more wins than Dabo each year with a .500 winning percentage- if Dabo was 6-6 very few people would be supporting him.

Like Dabo needs your pass. Your loyalty to a program that can’t make it into the 64 team playoff year after year, and a team that can’t compete in their own conference is a unique gift that few common sense people can muster.

I know you are joking but we also have to consider Brownell’s losses I would think. IMO ,and I understand that means very little, he is an average coach. Maybe the best we can get I have no idea but it’s all about recruiting and if you are not pulling in great players you will get and average team. That’s who we are and have been for the majority of our existence. I don’t like it, don’t understand it but it is the reality of the program.

everybody of bashing our basketball program is not right. Honestly, I would love to see Brownell do better, a lot better, but comparing on a win to win basis is amusing. It's like comparing apples to oranges. It's not the same. The winning percentage is not even close. Dabo came in and the football program is at the top. Basketball has not improved.

competition, because they are all Clemson Tigers and should work together.
My first suggestion would be a mutually beneficial meeting between Dabo and Brad. Brad could teach Dabo a thing or two about winning more games, while Dabo could teach Brad how to lose fewer games. I do not see why this has taken so long for Neff to set up

Yes we will give credit when credit is due. Let me know when that is. A largely ho hum program with little hope for success in fact for years you think we are there and collapse. Then you’re in a game up by 16 and then it’s gone. You’re right there up by a few with seconds left only to lose the close games. You can’t seriously mention the two programs together as if they are comparable somehow. One, people are thrilled to beat or even be in a close game with. The other, experienced coaches say it’s Clemson as if it disgusted them to be close or even lose to them. I’m not a Dabo worshipper but you can’t be serious. You have some major blinders.
And the W stands for whine btw.

Yes, the coach is a good guy, does it by the books but sucks in game strategy especially near the end in close games.
And, believe his overall win record is about 55% in 12-13 years.
Yep, he is "only" BB HC to beat Heels IN Orange County NC so credit duly given.
What if Dabo won 55% of his games?
What I do know is that the football team's huge winning ways helps to support a lot of the other varsity teams financially.
With that said may I ask you:
1. Does the BB Team support itself financially. I would say Yes.
2. Wouldn't you like for Brad & Team to win more games?
3. What is it that you keep saying are the main reasons for Brad not succeeding more (Low salary, not a good or big enough arena, fans and/or students not supporting team enough, games are difficult to attend for fans outside of Clemson area, etc?).
What say you #1 Mr Brad Brownell Fan?
Oh, are you related to Brad or affiliated with him in any way (like being a relative, in church with, etc)?

Dabo has around 80,000 for a football game, but Brad only has around 10,000 for a basketball game.
If our administration had built an arena that seats 80,000 people, Brad wouldn’t be at such a disadvantage.

The basketball program and Brad Brownell get every
Jun 10, 2022, 12:04 PM
|
|
bit as much appreciation as they deserve.
When you've finished in the top 40 twice in 12 years and you're getting the 38th highest salary in America, then you're actually OVER-appreciated.
Brad has enough players, assistants, and fans. He's had his chance to bring in players and coaches and win fans. He has MUCH, MUCH more than dozens of programs doing more with less. Clemson fans would be very appreciative of the man if he was actually capable of winning more games, which is what his HIGHLY paid job requires. As it is, plenty of fans come out, and the obvious fact is he should be able to coach better even if there were zero fans in the stands.
BRAD HAS NOT GOTTEN IT DONE, and he's had everything he's needed to do it.
I truly like Brad. He's a good dude and the program has succeeded at everything, except winning enough games.
When you're making nearly $3 million and you're the 38th highest paid coach in America, then you're expected to make the tournament and finish in the top 40.
Your rinse and repeat troll job is just as incorrect this time as its been the previous 200 times you've used the same worn out excuses.

You serious, Clark?
I think you've been hacked or concussed. BB is what he is...middle of the conference coach, keeps his nose clean and his players out of trouble, works hard, is rewarded well with his salary, is liked and respected by his peers. He's not a flashy guy and obviously not as outspoken as Dabo, or at least not that we know of.
But comparing his accomplishments to Dabo's is not very intelligent.
Sounds like he's got an ally in the AD now so we'll see how it works out going forward. I've heard from many that Neff is a bball guy but like it or not let's not forget what sport pretty much pays the bills.

The end zone is huge, and the basketball hoop is significantly smaller by comparison.
So Brad's teams scoring more often, as well as scoring more total points, is even more impressive.

The football field is much bigger though. How many points are being scored on a 110 yard basketball court? How many times do you expect to win those games? That’s a big court to run back and forth.
And if they played football on a 94 foot field? The whole game would be like overtime- that’s a lot of points.
Imagine trying to go bowling on a 110yd lane? Gee wiz, that’s bonkers.

You should really quit sniffing glue JK. This is really a low point for even you. Quit throwing shade at Dabo and football. BB is lucky to even have a job; and won’t be as lucky after this year. Keep making excuses for BB, but layoff Dabo.

Don’t forget that Brad has a roster of only a dozen players and Dabo has a hundred,,,
Good job Judge. I see what you are doing.
.We don’t want to get the soccer team into this discussion. They rarely score more than three or four points, That is the national champions I’m talking about.

What wins. How many big wins has he given us? How many wins against teams ranked higher than us, if we were ranked???? How many ACC championships? How many NCAA tournament wins? SHOW US THE DATA!!!! Help us understand how wonderful he his. Truth is. He is average. Clemson as a University is better than average.

This isn't about criticizing Dabo for not winning more, it's about needing to applaud Brownell for winning more.

Clemson Basketball is not moving forward and you know it—-I wish it would but talent is our problem and you have to RECRUIT that!!!
You were very silent during the season—-we are just very average and that is a fact

Just like Larry Shyatt, I really like Brad. But there is only one measure of success that matters in college basketball and that is routinely being one of 68 programs to get an NCAA invite. It’s pretty simple. I like BB, but he shoulda been gone several years ago.

But you can't deny that he's working extra hard to win so many more games, despite having fewer players, fewer coaches, and fewer fans than the football team does.

This has to be a joke or you got hacked. No reasonable person could possibly make the arguments you are. - Brad has 130 more losses than Dabo. - Brad’s winning % is 23% lower than Dabo’s. - All basketball teams are smaller than all football teams. - Basketball teams play more games in a season than football teams.
Should I keep going?

I usually refrain from bashing basketball teams and players who I purposefully have not followed since three to four years into Brownell's tenure. The style of play from my and my family's perspective is very boring, and the Brownell player mind set is to fall apart in most pressure games and pressure situations.
As some of you know, I attended Clemson in large part based on my love for ACC Basketball. I've attended dozens of NCAA tourneys and three final fours. That love is long gone. Basketball is a the weakest college sport based upon one-and-done policies for the top players. And despite the weakened state of play, Clemson teams have made little inroads in defeating top teams whose best players are freshmen. This is my personal choice, and I respect Judge Keller®'s support for Brownell and the program. I also respect the young men who play for Clemson and wish them the best during and after their Clemson years, but I find their style of play and ability to bear up to pressure to be bleak. I look forward to returning to Clemson basketball games after Brownell leaves the program.

Dabo plays 12 plus games a year. Brad plays probably 30 a year. You forgot to mention how many times Brad has lost and how many times he has ever got in tournaments. How many tournament games has he won? How many many ACC championships has he won in his 13 years? How many national titles has he ever won? Just the moment I try to like you I’m given doany reasons not to with all your nonsense. Brad will be gone after 1 more year. He will blow the opportunity Neff has given him by losing after leading by 23 points and getting beat by inferior teams.

Less wins than Monte (218 vs 242) Less ACC Championships than Monte (0 vs 1) Worst ACC winning percentage than Monte (.481 Vs .543)
Glad you agree it’s past time to fire Brownell. Have to hold the program to the same standard
