My first goal is to find the floor just to prove it exist.
It's a filthy mess including mud tracked which turned to dirt. Cobwebs on everything. Dust in the webs paint cans leaking and sticking to the floor.''
I got ~15 55 gal trash bags filled enough to burst the side and set them outside the door. I'm thinking 2-3 more days sorting the good from the bad then two days cleaning the walls and floors. I might get the car in there at the end of next week.
The main door opening is about 9' wide. It's not a rollup it has two leafs which are warped the insecure but I can rebuild them to suitable condition in half a day. The side door in G1 is likewise not secure. An hour will fix that.
Obed®, did you catch the tent style paint booth I'm looking to buy?
20x12.5x10. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0C586Y9KL/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?smid=A33ZS1ASA4OQJ0&th=1
I'm thinking intake of two @ 4600 cf/m and perhaps one 4600 exhaust. Good intake filters (20x20) and give the exhaust freedom. Whatdayathink?

Mine will ride high after removing a v8 gasser and putting a 5 cyl diesel in it. I have the springs off the sedan diesel body in storage but that's something to do after the paint dries and the new front seat covers are installed.
It's just touchup.

Paint, decent but not top shelf, is probably $75+/qt.

Clear is about the same. That's Nason or Shopline.
Assuming the fenders came with a good primer then all that's required in 320g to 400 grit sanding with a soft pad and wiping off with 91% iso alcohol and setting up on stands in the booth and pulling the trigger on a couple guns. Cleanup is 10 bucks for gun cleaner so labor start to finish is less than two hours including cleanup.
That's price probably is not too high. I would do it for a friend if my booth was build and let them spend their money on a good brand name paint.

Am I misreading or does the booth design already allow for air to exhaust
Apr 10, 2024, 10:51 PM

Through 4 different filtered ports?
4 filtered ports plus a true exhaust port might give you ample air turnover. I’d be more worried about that much exhaust fan volume plus the vents taking away more positive pressure in the tent than you want. At most I might stick a box fan in front of that back exhaust port.

Yeah, I want the intake at the bottom of that 20' length and exhaust at the top of the opposite end.
The optimum condition would be about 3' off the floor on the intake end and about 8' at the other. Those side windows will be closed but with my goal being positive pressure in the containment always be exhausting some air. I'm not an engineer but fluid mechanics is fairly simple if you consider water rather than air. The air from one end to the other will create eddys and kick chit off the floor sending it swirling around the space.
I'm sorry guys, I started thinking about all this just now, half asleep and on a single sip of coffee and remembered I ran an asbestos job at old G'ville City Hall. $2.4mil lasting two and a half years.
So here's what I'm going to do.
I'm finding fans with variable speed with a reostat rather than a click button. If I have to, I'll build them, I have a couple 115v motors out of AC cages and can lay my hands on 220v if I need them. The optimum would be a banner of smaller fans 12"s12" boxes spanning the 12.5' dimension for the intake. Actually, one big air handler with a manifold going to that location would work.
I'll find a cheap manometer and some smoke tests and research optimum air flow across painting surfaces to figure out the desired velocity of the air across the central area in the booth.
This ain't rocket science. I was too tired to think after all the work I did yesterday. I slept late this morning so I'll work long and hard today then bed down early this evening.

But I think you’re taking caveman science and making it into rocket science. Lol. Put a couple box fans on the intake with some 20x20 air filters between them and the tent and get sprayin’

Also got a side room where I keep all (or most) of my tools and fishing gear.
No pigs because too lazy.
I can assure you though, most walk in and are all like man how you keep this garage so tight and I'm all like man I have a unique system where I clean up after myself and choose to not be a messy mf.

Part of the agreement was that I clean it up. It's 900SF with all the electricity and alterations I want. It's has a three stage compressor and 8-8' florescent lights. It's $150/mo and 15 minutes from my house. The owner will put a 12ga in your face without provocation.
I know your comment was from a position of ignorance so an apology will prevent folks from thinking you're an idiot since many of the good folks here know that's a rental space and I've waited nearly two years for the owner to accept an offer.
