a field goal attempt is dumber than punting or going for it. With 8 seconds left, a 60 yd field goal runs the clock out 9 times out of 10. A punt, like a FG, can get blocked but a punt block is much worse usually. Going for it gives you no chance at points and is even more likely to leave time on the clock.
What the heck was he thinking? I'm just not sure why anyone, especially a coach, would be against that decision.

Seems like punting would be the worst thing. Going for it 2nd worst. FG 3rd worst.

usually get people killed and then returned. But whatever... just seems nitpicky... which I kinda like but just not in front of the team.

gets in the path it's kicked it's not gonna be tipped, it'll be hammered back right from where it came. It's also blocked at a much higher pct b/c of the way it is kicked. That's why it's worse than a punt. You have to be real careful if you do it.

That is his job, stop the other team from scoring. If our kicker had never made one from that distance and didn't have the wind at his back maybe it was a bad call but still not his place to cry about it.

deal at all, but after seeing our punter get destroyed at end of half kicks last year, I just didn't feel like it was a "dumb enough" decision by Dabo to warrant a verbal lashing from Venables.
