Westinghouse Nuclear Fuels, Process Engineer, Columbia, SC 1991-1993
Next, I went to work for Westinghouse where they made nuclear fuel assemblies. It was very interesting, and I learned a lot about the nuclear industry. It helped me get some business later on when I was in plastics. I did a bunch of projects, and also had to learn how to program in multiple languages. I would probably still be there today except they had a huge company wide layoff, and since I was one of the last managers hired, I was gone. Oh well… As Rocky would say, “It ain’t about how hard you hit. It’s about how hard you can GET hit and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done!”

We had to do this radiation testing once a month where you get in this isolation booth. You would lay down and you could have either quiet or music, light or dark, and the test for radiation would last about 45 minutes. I would get it quiet and dark, and I would sleep like a baby.

I'm a light sleeper and wake up easily, but I can sleep in almost any conditions - daylight, tv on, laying down, sitting up. I guess being a light sleeper, I need more sleep time. I envy those that can deep sleep 5 hours and are good to go.

when the drill sergeant said “”Take 10- smoke’em if you got’em” and be snoring in 20 seconds- never been able to get to sleep easily

My wife lived about 20 miles from Three Mile Island when they had their “emergency “. I always tell people we don’t need a nightlight! 😂😂

Dang Pig that is awesome and congratulations!
Went through a divorce and with the current affairs as far as the economy I have given up on the idea that I will ever be able to retire! Kudos to you! Hope you enjoy it!
