Travelers “By God” Rest
I lived about a quarter mile from Hwy 11 off of 25 in my high school days. Worked for Jerry Lell at his tire store on Main Street after school. Went to Clemson for college. Looking back I would say it was a great place to live.

I lived in Irmo/Chapin/Lexington for over 20 years. They’ve all become extensions of Columbia. Can’t tell where one town ends and the other begins. The over-development is killing it all.

in controlling development. Outside the town limits they can’t control. Chapin is having too much development. But both towns have still kept their identity and neither are like Columbia. Columbia is grimly asf. Neither of those towns have that element. Plus a majority of people in Irmo and Chapin are Clemson fans. The out of towners that move are normally nice and very respectful. A lot of out of towners move out after their kids graduate from high school. I don’t know about Lexington cause I don’t venture over there too much, but when I do I don’t pick up a Columbia vibe at all. The worst part of over development has been on Lake Murray too many houses on the shoreline and too many drunks boating on the water. The only Columbia element in the Dutch Fork area is parts of the St Andrews area and one apartment complex near Harbison Blvd. I don’t like the overdevelopment, but like I said before most of the out of towners are nice people.

It's pretty nice off-season when you at the toe (Sea Pines). The most beautiful moonlight my wife and I have ever witnessed was at the Beach Club in Sea Pines just last year. A full moon lighting up some slighter larger than normal waves with a couple drinks in our hands. It looked like one of those air-brushed van mural scenes from the 70's. LOL

Butt, having lived in that area for five years awhile back, I can tell you that people in SUMMERVILLE actually look snidely down THEIR noses even at people in Charleston. Don't know why....

The only negative for Charleston is the traffic. Too many people know about Charleston these days. It is killing the surrounding areas. I grew up on Johns Island and my brother and sisters still live there. There are way too many people there and they won’t improve the roads because of those big beautiful old oak trees right next to them.

I was in Boone NC over Thanksgiving and a couple of stores were selling stickers that said “Boone Sucks. Tell your friends”. Reminded me of what most of us are facing here. I was born and still live in Chs. It’s gone. Over run…. Daniel Island is like Hilton Head. Cincinnati by the Sea…. Edisto Beach is still good but I’m sure it’s only a matter of time.
