Ok pubs. GITT with your pick

Between
Trump
Or Desantis.
Looking more and more like that's going to be the choices for the Republican ticket. Since Trump won't say if he's running or not, but still getting pubs to say that if he does run they will not.
Except Desantis. Who is holding pretty firm that he will run no matter who is the other candidate.
So who do you pick?

will be fun watching them duke it out. Especially as DeSantis is claiming he was an advisor to trump on Covid and he didn’t take his advice.
Not sure you can run harder to the right than trump but Ron will try. And he isn’t a chump like Ted Cruz.

The one who is not President Trump...

No matter who the other name is (well, within reason).
I guess you can say I've gradually weakened, but desperate times...probably any Republican candidate besides President Trump would get my vote in the general election at this point.

Is that a change in position? What Republican candidate other than President Trump ever failed to get your vote in the general election?

Here's my prediction...

|

Desantis is re-elected Governor of Florida in 2022 and does NOT enter the 2024 race for President.
Desantis is a smart guy that knows that if he is patient he will be "the guy" that takes over the America First movement once Trump is out of the picture. Desantis is young and has time on his side - no need to alienate any of the America First base (who will happily support him in the future) by challenging Trump whose political future will be over in 2024 or at the end of a second Trump Presidency. Trump is on a limited political clock - Desantis is not...
So, like it or not, Trump is running in 2024 and the only competition Trump will probably get in the primary is from the feckless Bush/Cheney/Romney RINO wing. Trump will crush those challengers in the primary and be the nominee. All the while, Desantis will be biding his time in the Governors mansion in Florida while he plans his eventual 2028 Presidential run.
Now having said that, if by some crazy, unforeseen turn of events happens and Trump doesn't run in 2024 - you can bet that Desantis will enter the Presidential race in 2024 and will get my full support.

Disagree. DeSantis is running.
Say trump wins in 2024. If he’s still around he’ll run in 2028 or have a handpicked successor run for him. DeSantis won’t be it.
2024 is Rons window and he has the momentum on his side with Covid wanning. Because honestly what else has he really done for Florida that will translate nationally?
Book banning? Nope Ending local rule of schools? Nope Curtailing gay rights? Nope Immigration? Has he done anything except troll Abbott?

Sentence #2 is incorrect. If Trump does run in 2024 and if he were to win, Trump could not run again in 2028 based on the 22nd Amendment.

You’re right. My apologies.
I thought you could run more than 2 terms non consecutively. So in 2028 DeSantis could run.
Still think he hits 2024 hard.

Laughable anybody still thinks he's a traditional conservative Republican.

If Trump runs and is the nominee, then he will be destroyed in the general. The Communists will then feel that they have a mandate. So, hopefully Republican voters are smart enough to figure this out.

You would hope, but right now they're convinced that Pubs like Liz Cheney are "not conservative" and need to be purged.

I've always liked this guy Larry Hogan, Chair of the National Governors Association. He always makes perfect sense in every interview I've seen with him ....
