Got an FSU grad (ex-track star) visiting me this weekend in Colombia.

He is obviously a huge FSU fan and still holds some FSU (and NCAA) records in track. We are going to watch the Miami game together tomorrow night.
We had dinner last night and we talked a little football. His take was that Clemson was fine and would be back on top soon enough. Was he just saying that for my benefit? Who knows, but he's a really nice guy and so is his wife!
I guess he's a 98.5%er?

He grew up in my childhood neighborhood in Charleston.
I hope he brings us luck tomorrow. I am getting very excited about the game too!

I did run track in HS. But, that was the end of my career.
So, there are at least 2 FSU fans who are optimistic about the future of Clemson football.

I asked him last night how Clemson's track team was to play against. He said that we were a tough opponent.
I told him last night that he seemed athletic enough when we were kids but hard to believe he'd someday set records in the triple jump.
He took the long way to FSU, first joining the Navy out of HS.

My great uncle was on the track team at Clemson and one of his teammates would go on to become SC governor, presidential candidate, and prove it's possible to win a seat in the US Senate as a write-in candidate, where he ended up serving 48 years until he was 100 years old. Guys like them probably wouldn't have much of a chance of making the team against athletes these days.
