How confident we be in Clemson OL in 2015? Good? Bad? Avg?

Mar 2, 2015, 1:40 PM

On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being championship-calibur, I'm gonna say that at this time I'm confident that Clemson's OL will be a solid 7.4 so I'm gonna round down to 7.

What say you?

10+. Watson will be sacked less than once per game.
9. Watson will be protected well & running game will b nearly elite.
8. Watson will have some struggles against top teams but be able to hold his own.
7. Some breakdowns will occur leading to losses but overall a solid season.
6. Lesser teams will b hornswaggled but major defenses will assert themselves.
5. OL will be avg @ best; Watson'll have to scramble quite a bit more than we'd like.
4. OL will be somewhat of a liability; Clemson'll be a winning team but OL will not allow a top 15 finish.
3. OL will have at least 3 or 4 noticeably bad games causing subpar running games but good enough to win at least 4 ACC games.
Less than 3. OL will blow chunks & I'm concerned Watson may suffer serious injury or injury early in season.

I said 8

Battle is ready for an All ACC year

Gore will work hard all offseason and be impressive

Guillermo will return healthy and will be our best OL. BOOK IT!

Norton and MacLain split time at LG and are solid

Crowder is solid at RG, especially in run blocking

Tay Hearn is vastly underrated and will be a capable backup

All depends on injuries, especially Guillermo

I go into every year with the same expectations....

Mar 2, 2015, 1:50 PM

And this year is no different. I think the Oline will be a 10..."A 10 A FREAKIN' 10!!!" and it will be championship calibur and take it all the way!!!

Thank you for your honest, and realistic, reply.

did you really?

Mar 2, 2015, 1:57 PM

Those are my expectations. realistic or not...I love clemson athletics and expect championships every year for every team. Im not going to say something cootish like" Oh well we have questions on the oline this year so im going to say 7.4 but then round down to a 7 because im realistic"

I say a 7 to start the season off

Mar 2, 2015, 2:08 PM

Then we should be a 8 to a 9 before or after the Louisville game.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Agree, 7 sounds about right.

Mar 2, 2015, 3:44 PM

a descent starting 5 sounds manageable...but depth concerns me.

especially at tackle.

I think it will depend on Guillermo's hemeroids, hernia,

crabs or whatever ailment it is that is inflicting him. We need him for depth.

Clemson Tigers run the football is almost as exciting as planting my staff in york_togre's niece's backyard.

Can't wait 'til Clemson finally beats 'Bama again....

Cuz that's the only way Dabo will get any sort of recruiting edge, even if Clemson still owns the big 10.

I ask myself well how did I feel about our Oline going into last year. Cause I feel our Oline this year will be worse due to what we lost. Not saying that they can't or won't improve to be better than last years Oline but at this point I'd have to say 6 or worse. Cause last year I'd have said probably a 6 or 7.

And depth has a lot to do with that.
