I seem to recall that when we brought in Chad Morris

The first thing he did was simplify the offense by reducing the number of plays, and it had an immediate effect on our confidence and tempo. I also seem to recall his practices were intense. He would squeeze as many reps out of those kids in the 45 minutes he had them. He was also a heck of a QB coach.
Anyway, it seems we are back in the same boat. We have a coach that will have full command over this offense and not a bunch of playbooks cobbled together from the last 5 years with paralysis and missed assignments stalling the offense.

Hope for similar results, except not throwing the bomb after every big gain. It became predictable

seems our offense had gotten like a kid with too much money and a J.C. Whitney catalogue. Next thing you know, his car had all kinds of cheap chrome doodads all over it that didn't really contribute anything to the overall use or looks of the car, but still had to be maintained.
I personally had a "footprint" dimmer switch, and gas pedal. (Along with cheap rubber "carpet" front and back. I was on a budget.)

I loved JC Whitney! My Mustang had doodads like mud flaps with little Ford logos and scratch protector pads around the keyhole. Never got the curb feelers. That was too much.

he seems like the kind of guy who has enough sense not to call a trick play WR pass for an interception when he’s running the ball down the opposing teams’s throat. I appreciate Chad but he got too cute sometimes.

Two of my pet peeves. 1. 3rd and 3, throw a 35 yard pass. 2. 3rd and 5, the WR goes 2 yards and turns around. Hope this changes.

I am really more making an apology over the lack of Indentiy and there being many mistakes when we let Napier go, the offense was lost, much the way it has been the last two seasons. It needs a complete reboot, and that is what we are getting.

I thought I remember everyone on here beatching about him being the OC and QB coach. Everyone thought it was grand when they hired Streeter to come in to be the QB coach.

Streeter is a pretty smart guy. When Trevor was moving in the dorm, Streeter made sure to be there and help him. Not saying Trevor would have, but Streeter being proactive with the Generation QB was street football smart.

I think I remember reading Streeter went into games with eighty something plays on the play sheet. No wonder #5 had that deer-in-the-headlights look at times. Either he couldn't remember all those plays or the receivers couldn't, or both. I think that's why he usually looked scared and wouldn't throw the ball.

The funny thing is it seemed they only ran about 5 plays max.

I liked the juice Chad Morris brought Clemson. I would be estatic if our offeense can it's explosive self again!
Sounds like it's similar in simplified; but different in the aspect of "lots of different plays to digest and learn"!
The defenses hadn't quite caught up to the tempo offenses yet when Chad was here; you all can't forget that. The rule change about allowing the defense to sub if the offense subbed wasn't in place either!
So, simplified, but running at break-neck speed!
What GR seems to be doing is; "we are going to run a variation of the same play so many times, that even when the defense adjust to it, the players already know the answers to the coverage"!
How they rep this offense is going to be the key to it.
In Morris's offense it was; some shots mixed in with bubble screens mixed with some inside run game; that kept the defense off-balance because of the tempo.
Tempo not being the advantage it used to be; I like this approach far better!
Nebraska and Tom Osborne could all but tell you the dang play; "yet teams couldn't stop it"! That's because they repped the same plays so much; the players adjusted to what the defense was doing "dang near by instinct they repped it so much"!
Same principle just in a spread format!

This biggest problem with Chad Morris...

was that he would resort to trickeration and try to get too cute with the offense when it wasn't at all necessary, and more often than not, it ended-up biting us in the a$$.
