You think the NBA thinks they have any influence over the Chinese government? That would be a futile effort. You are correct about one thing. The NBA cares about the Chinese market more than they care about Hong Kong. That market is becoming bigger than the US market for basketball. Its the biggest sport in China.

just as appropriate.
"Myself and Alicia in particular are trained organizers. We are trained Marxists," - Funder of BLM Patresse Cullors.
“If this country doesn’t give us what we want, then we will burn down this system and replace it. All right? And I could be speaking figuratively. I could be speaking literally. It’s a matter of interpretation,” - Hank Newsome Greater NY BLM
We believe that prisons, police and all other institutions that inflict violence on Black people must be abolished...”
“We are anti-capitalist. We believe and understand that Black people will never achieve liberation under the current global racialized capitalist system.”
Supporting this hate filled movement is just plain ignorant. This is a movement fueled by George Soros and The Ford foundation. That alone should make the NBA ashamed to even acknowledge this racist organization.

To be fair, tons of white people are marching and protesting with them. I am tired of the protests and I think the country should focus on bigger issues, but the BLM movement contains people of all races. They made their point weeks ago. I think at this stage that the more they protest the more they hurt their cause.

BLM isn't a racial movement; it's a political movement that has appropriated racial anger to move a Socialist/Communist agenda forward.
George Soros probably could not care less about black lives. His sole purpose in life is to create an Anarchist/Marxist world that can then be oppressed by a one world government regime. He is like Emperor Palpatine in Star Wars, he feeds off of hate and uses it to do his will.

If that's what they want, they sure are going about it the wrong way. They make people turn against them. I am liberal and I have grown tired of them. People are tuning them out.

I remember the days when a conservative was a conservative and a liberal was a liberal and actual debate took place instead of cancelling movements.

I could hardly watch any less than I did last year.

I did take in a couple of Hornets games on TV, though it was the first time since 1988 that I did not actually attend a live NBA game.
Problem is that it is still "cool" to wear these NBA jerseys. I wish people who truly deserved admiration had a jersey my son could purchase, a Ronald McNair(Astronaut from South Carolina-who happens to be a black man) jersey would impress me over any NBA player. What about a jersey for Craig Maxwell who developed one of the first practical exoskeletons that could actually help a parapalegic artificially walk? I wish truly great men and women would be placed on the backs of sports jerseys.

Lebron James does a lot of good for communities. He build schools., funds Boys and Girls Clubs. He has 10 of millions of dollars set for his college scholarship for his "I Promise" organization. That's where he gets the kids when they are young knowing they have a college scholarship waiting for them if they stay on track. I am sure a lot of NBA players do a lot of philanthropic endeavors.

Not trying to marginalize the NBA players or their charitable giving. I was simply pointing out that there are people out their that should get the recognition and admiration that NBA players get that accomplish a lot more than being great at a sports game.
Actually, I don't mind a person being adulated for their sports prowess, I just am bothered that that person is given an authoritative voice on subjects outside of sports.

All these businesses placate the movement by “hearing” them, the protests peter out, no real change is made and you get to hate the NBA for the sin of supporting The concept of black lives mattering.
But In the end it will be the resulting monetization of the idea that turns the organizers into placating politicians like Jesse Jackson.
