Played Cateechee today. 38-37-75. Pretty course and I demanded respect..

Wonderful afternoon and a pretty course and super friendly staff. Got what I deserved. Left a few strokes on the course and stole a few. My driver was on. Crucial on that course.
I birdied 18. Group of folks sitting on the porch outside the clubhouse and watched me play my 2nd shot in. Stuck a high and picturesque 8 iron to about 12 feet above the hole - on a downslope. FAST. I literally breathed on it with my putter and the ball (Titleist Velocity)trickled into the cup. The folks watching all clapped. I tipped my hat and waved.
Things come very easy for me and I know how blessed I am to have the life I have and enjoy.
Just a lot of respect today and I never brag, but to do what I did today was pretty impressive

After he hit his Olamar 7 wood off the deck from 147 out- he hit a solid quick rake 3 putt with his Nickent Pipe for a 5 net 3.

FM -- Regret your game was off. All golfers seem to have those days when the cup is 1,000 yards from the tee and the cup is only one inch in diameter.

Few people can handle honesty today. They say they can. They say that is what they want.
But, the reality is that few people can truly handle the truth.
It takes too much effort. And, it makes one self examine too much.

Golf should be about having fun. Just enjoy the round!

Unless one makes their living doing it, just enjoy it and have FUN!
Seen too many people spend 3-4 hours in misery out on the course. Just enjoy being alive and being able to play. Each hole is gravy!
Well, #17 is kinda tough - don’t go left off the tee!
Seriously, golf is all about just having fun and enjoyment!

Bulldog is correct. He is also an arrogant s o b to make posts gloating how he commands respect. Nothing wrong with wanting to post about having a great round. Quite the other if you're an in your face gloating AR se.
Golf is the most enjoyable, rewarding pastimes you'll ever be blessed to do no matter what your score is. If it's not, or you feel compelled to gloat, you need to find a new hobby... Or perhaps get some counseling. Maybe both.

Congrats, but is there a bulldog board to post on? This elitist attitude is exactly what I expect from Georgia fans. Crowded bathroom at the stadium and the Georgia fan walks in saying Bulldog fan coming through and cuts in front of the line to pee.

Kim Jong-il shot a 38 on all 18 holes, respectively.
May 2, 2021, 7:22 AM
|
|
He eagled 18, but overall he was disappointed he didn’t shoot in the 20s. His ball (The Supreme Emperor’s Super Impressive Title List Extremely Fast Goffball) was probably the reason for his shortcomings. So it was only fair that after his round he shut down the factory that made his “subpar” balls and sent all the workers to work camps. His golf game demands respect, and when he doesn’t get it, there is a price to be paid.
The crowd watching his ENTIRE round (over 3,000 people) was still very impressed with his accomplishment. But Kim wanted everyone to be completely impressed, so he ripped off his shirt and bench pressed a golf cart 55 times in a row to show that he was the most svelte senior citizen in the world, in the most humble, non-braggadocios manner he possibly could.
The respect he demanded and received that day is still the highest level of respect ever given to any human being that has ever lived in the entire history of the universe as we know it.

then, yes, I do expect a certain level of respect. Why wouldn’t I?
I never brag and I’m never a jerk about It. The reality is I’m pretty reserved and quiet.
But, few put in the effort I do and all I am saying is that people need to acknowledge it and and show respect it in some way.

All good. I got down to single digit handicap at one point long ago but gave up to the game due to lack of talent and lack of time. Regardless, good round - played the course a few times. What kind of shape is it in? So many courses have closed and others are not maintained. It's a great layout so I hope it survives. Shortly after opening, Jim Ed Rice (Red Sox via Anderson) went over #17 green in 2 shots from the back tees (listed at 628 today). I was told it was driver/2 iron I think. That was hard to fathom standing on the tee 25 years ago but I guess a few of the modern day big hitters on the tour could do it.

Impressive - single digit handicap is great!

I play 3-4 days a week but I just play for fun. Refuse to play in tournaments because it is not especially fun and almost like work.
Cateechee is in good shape. Got to be a shot maker. Use every club. Fair, but a test. Greens fast. Fairways pretty good. Don’t have to be a bomber on every hole.KEEP IT IN PLAY and sacrifice distance for accuracy!
Ok, #17. Anyone who can reach in 2 is very rare. My drive was a tad left and almost in the high grass. Hit a low 3 iron screamer that rolled to about 95 from the green. Hit the wedge right and it kicked off the green and rolled down the hill. I knew I was looking at bogey with front hole pin and JUST DID NOT WANT TO GO OVER THE GREEN AGAIN - so I played it right and let it trickle down to the pin and missed my 10 foot par putt. Bogey.
But, I did come back on 18 and birdied in front of the group on the clubhouse deck watching me - thus, the wave and tip O’ the hat.
All my best to you, sir! Hope you will take the game up again and just enjoy the beauty and fun of it.
Score means nothing!

OK ..... now that sounds legit!
Last time I played Pebble Beach, I was like 7 or 8 over after nine holes and getting a little discouraged ..... not so much with the score but just how I was playing. Then on the inward nine I turned it totally around and played them 3 over par including a birdie on the famous 17th. The sun was getting low, so we were looking right into it and the flagstick was 175 yards from the tees we were playing from with a stiff wind right in our face. I hit a 4-iron as well as I could and the last thing I saw was the ball rising into the sun right toward the flag. When we got to the green my ball was 4" behind the cup ..... couldn't find the ball mark so I have to assume it rolled right over the cup.
I have played Pebble Beach 3 times and birdied #17 twice. Oh, and I parred #18 getting up and down from the front bunker!

Love that course. Really fun to play and great views. Very rewarding if you keep it straight off the tee, but in for a miserable day if you spray it. I used to play there at least once a year when a buddy of mine lived in Lavonia.
I'm a 10 handicap and I made the turn once at even par and then birdied #10. That's when I started thinking about my score too much and proceeded to bogey most of the holes coming in. Ended up with a 76, which has been my best score to date.
