I don't think anyone ever placed us in the B10, I'm not all that surprised with the rest. Although I would have expected UVA and UNC on the list and not FSU.
FSU and Clem to SEC.

I think Miami is a tweener, unless the state of Florida was ceded to the SEC. The SEC and BIG currently do not overlap in any states. If this is really going the way of mega conferences each with their own footprint it seems a bargain where BIG get the state of Virginia and SEC gets the state of North Carolina. Miami and FSU get left alone because SEC demanded no penetration into Texas or Florida in exchange for yielding the west coast to BIG.
It really looks like they are carving up the country together not in opposition, like a cartel. Otherwise each would have made moves long ago into enemy territory.

B10 and FOX would love to get a foothold in Florida. However, I think that the SEC and ESPN would like to lock that geography down as well. Regardless, I can guarantee you that we will not be left out in either scenario if dominos start to fall. We would increase revenue for either conference. Just follow the $$$$$.

Hopefully that's correct. If Clemson does decide to go to another conference, I would prefer the SUC because of the rivalries. I would prefer to remain in a strong ACC, but given the available choices the SUC would seem to be a better fit for Clemson. Go Tigers!!!

FSU fans would hate being in the B1G and playing schools like Rutgers, Maryland, Purdue and Northwestern to name a few.

I agree. However, they already play BC, Syracuse, Pitt, Duke, WF.
Greeting! I come in peace. I am just a Buckeye fan/alum who is interested in what you guys are thinking/ hearing on conference realignment. I am a little hurt you dont want to be in the B1G. But I understand why. I also am a little hurt you hate Day and the Buckeyes so much. But, for most Buckeye fans, the feeling is mutual.

Those feelings go all the way back to 1978 when Woody Hayes socked a Clemson player during the Gator Bowl.

My dad is a Michigan grad, so I grew up rooting for the Wolverines and despising anything Ohio State. That hate didn't change when we moved to SC, and my sisters and I graduated from Clemson. My dad likes to say his blood now runs orange and blue, given all the money he spent on our Clemson educations. Go Tigers!

Chris, I am a Tiger man in Buckeye land.
The feelings are not universal in any fanbase. I pull for both- I have too many Buckeye friends to pull against OSU- unless they play Clemson. And I and many others would prefer B1G to SEC for several reasons- not the least of which is the better academic standing. If Clemson could be raised to a higher standard by joining, that would be a great thing.

ClemTig what area are you in? I spent 8 years there until moving to Texas last year. I have several Buckeye friends and had both of my kids attend Ohio State. However, I never could pull for them. They are the Gamecoots of the North.

Help me out. How many football, basketball or baseball national championships has the B1G won in the last 20 years? 1? The poor old ACC has 13, if I’m not mistaken.

A mix of truth and BS in that statement. If you think Cal is more valuable than Clemson re: TV $, you probably suffered recent head trauma. The Bay Area population does not watch Cal football and neither does the rest of America. All that other nonsense about Olympic sports, academics, etc., is all BS. Fox and ESPN are not paying top $ for any of that. When was the last time Stanford football was relevant or drew eyeballs to a device. Their multiple natty's in volleyball, water polo, tennis and swimming are not monetizable. I give them a slow golf clap for their efforts.

Yep. Rumors abound. And, the operative word is RUMOR.
Anyone can start a rumor. And, then anyone can say "rumors abound."
My question is, how would anyone know whether or not the rumor is true? I have no doubt that every school in the ACC, Big 12 and PAC 12 are not having discussions with other schools in those three conferences. I have no doubt that all have tried to have a discussion with SEC and B1G. I have no doubt that the commissioners of those conferences aren't talking to each other and to schools in there own conferences.
I have not doubt that the talks are, "What have you heard? What do you think is going on? Is there some way we can work together and present a package deal? If you hear anything will you let me know? What do you think is going on? If we can't get into SEC or B1G what can we do?" Etc.
But, I still maintain that anybody who knows anything ain't talking. And anybody who's talking knows nothing?
Who was reporting, "Rumors are UCLA and USC are in discussion with the B1G" six months ago?
Don't get me wrong. I'm retired. I've got all sorts of time. I love reading about all the rumors. It's fun. It's entertainment. But, I don't take any of them as having any better chance of being true than any other rumor I read about.
My speculation, but nothing I've heard from any source (my most reliable source is Tiger Net), is that FSU and Clemson will announce they are joining the SEC. They will announce it next Spring. That's my guess.

Well said Bret! The public will know about it when the deal is finalized and a league commissioner steps to the podium. The rumor mill makes for great chat board discussions and tv/radio filler.

The Big apparently values markets that already have a big contingent of Big 10 fans. Florida is loaded with them. Miami area more so than FSU. FSU and Clemson are a perfect fit for the SEC.
I hope the BIG forces the SEC to protect their market share in the South and lock down the rest of the Florida and South Carolina markets.
Some smart attorney has to figure a way out of GOR or this is all a mute point.

Aware of that but, assuming the Big 12’s contract is similar to the ACC, it has delayed TX and OU from immediately going to the SEC. Not sure how confident schools are that this holds up in court.

the ACC's GOR includes a "competitive revenue clause". Right now, 80% of conference revenue is generated by football and, over the last several years, Clemson has accounted for the lions share of that in the ACC, yet their return is peanuts compared to the competition in other leagues. This, in and of itself, should be an out for Clemson. The league can't hold Clemson hostage if Clemson can make twice the revenue elsewhere. That's overly punitive and inequitable.

I just don't see the B1G adding Miami because it is the 3rd most important school in Florida, well behind UF and FSU. It wouldn't represent a "foothold" in the state.
FSU and Miami together? Maybe so, especially if Mario Cristobal continues recruiting like a mad man. I still think Clemson and FSU makes more sense.
My 2 cents.
