Shipley/Mafah

Just my opinion here but I believe after yesterday's showing, Dabo should start Mafah Saturday against GT. He showed out, played tough as hell and I believe that type of play should be rewarded.
just to be clear, I'm not asking for Shipley to be benched and even if the carries are divided up 50/50 or 60/40 then I'm fine with that, I just think sending Mafah out to start the game sends a message that playing hard and making the most of your moment will be rewarded in some way
I dunno , just my 2 cents

I have mentioned this for a long time. Not sure how anyone thinks Shipley is our best back. Put him in the slot. He would make money at the next level if he would change positions imo.

I think putting Shipley and Mafah in the backfield at the same time gives Clemson a better advantage. You can split Shipley out and use him as a receiver on 3rd down, use Mafah as a lead blocker on 1st, use Mafah as a runner on 2nd and use Mafah as a hammer on 3rd and short and 4th and short. I think they work best together in the backfield at the same time. Both have a fumbling problem this year. I think Mafah has put it on the ground a little more than Shipley which is probably why Ship is considered as the starter. Don’t know if they can fix ball security in season, but definitely need to work on it in spring and summer camp. Just my thoughts.

How can you justify putting Shipley in the slot over Tyler Brown though?

I’m no coach, just a fan. I’m not saying Shipley should play slot over Brown. What I’m saying is if you have Shipley and Mafah in the backfield at the same time, you have more options to use both of them.

I'm saying it. Mafah is RB1.Whether Dabo sees it that way or not is his choice.

I'm just one of a legion of fanatics who has watched Shipley fumble after fumble and still have the audacity to get in the face of coaches and fellow players. He's either stumbling down, or being tackled by the mere presence of another player. 3 years I've watched Shipley's overrated skillset while Mafah and past Tigers with better game were put behind him. But I'm not on staff, so doesn't matter. Right, TNET?

Both players are good and have flaws in their game. It’s hard to say Shipley is a fumbling machine when Mafah put it on the turf twice in the fourth quarter yesterday.

Shipley will remain a major part of our running game.

Mafah may get the start, and I agree he deserves it. But I'm afraid anybody expecting Shipley to be relegated to a secondary or situational role of some kind is going to have their heads exploding with outrage. My suggestion is to take a deep breath and enjoy this big win, and don't build yourselves up for another thing to ##### about.

Smiling Tiger®, we've all had our misery this season. Those who think they should manage the game and coaches' assignment for players are fool of the highest order.
They might as well be telling F1 drivers what they did wrong and how to adjust.

70/30 for Mafah, hes very methodical and produces. Ship is great for hr plays and getting the fans and players fired up, but his emotions dont produce a consisntent performance. That rubs off on Cade who also needs to check the emotional chip on his shouldrr before the game

What home run plays? Shipley has 0 home run ability. Look at the longest runs. Mafah has far more of them.

What's Mafah's carry to fumble ration?

With turnovers costing us 4 games this season that might be the most significant factor in starting Ship. You can run the numbers and see if it pans out.

Ha ha, you mean you don't want the kid who has pulled us for many games now should be allowed to suit up?

There is honestly no telling when Shipley will return anyway.

I was eavesdropping and heard some "who know" say he was transferring to cootlumbia. Don't blame me if not true, just posting what I heard.
