That squeeze play and the defense of it

In that situation is about as exciting a play as you're going to see in the game of baseball. And, BTW, that game is why people who know nothing about soccer should be quiet when they say 1-0 soccer games cant be fun to watch.

Yes and some are quite boring. But, some feature incredible defense, amazing saves, near misses, and spectacular displays of skill. Things that might go unnoticed by an observer without much knowledge of the game

This is why they don’t bunt in MLB anymore. That’s a high risk no reward situation there.

It's not high risk if you execute correctly. LSU's 1st baseman is arguably the best defensive 1st baseman in college baseball. Their 3rd baseman is kind of iffy on defense. You bunt the ball to the left side and that play is infinitely more difficult. Runner is safe by a mile. The reason they don't bunt in MLB anymore is because you have a generation of players that were taught launch angle and exit velocity vs bat control and fundamentals. Current MLB players can't bunt, even if they were asked, and that's an absolute travesty. Ask Coach Bakich in private, if he would bunt in the Tennessee game in the 9th knowing what he knows now. I can guarantee you he would say yes.

You absolutely do not bunt that ball down the 3B line to have the the 3B trail the runner...Proper safety squeeze with a runner at 1st and 3rd is to always bunt down the 1B line because the first baseman is holding the runner on...It was absolutely a great defensive play...Because of that its not worth the risk...

Ask Bakich if he would bunt with the bases loaded and no outs? H3ll no he wouldnt...not with a force out at the plate...

You understand personnel so well. Tommy White is a below average defensive 3rd baseman. If he's trailing the runner there is no way in God's creation, he makes that play. If he was even an average defensive 3rd baseman it's still a hard play. Trey Morgan is easily the most athletic and best defensive 1st baseman in college baseball.
BTW: How did not bunting Riley Bertram work out for us? You had a switch-hitting 5th year senior at the plate who is one of the best sacrifice bunters in the league and elite speed at 3rd. Not to mention you're at home. JL curse of playing not to lose reared its head. Play to win. Lay the bunt down and get out of the #### way. Suicide squeeze properly executed is indefensible. You bunt the first pitch. At worst runner gets cut down and you still end up with a runner at 2nd and 3rd with two outs. Winning run is still 90 feet away.

it's also not a "no reward" situation...
