It’s California. I got an idea how about the government mind their own business and leave it up to the parents of the child if the kid wants to play??

I’m curious - do you think seatbelt laws for kids are a good idea? To me, this falls I to the same line of thinking. There are lots of things we don’t allow kids to do for their own good.
I’m not 100% convinced that football is so dangerous but I can understand why this might be considered

football is kind of useless until you can into the local feeder system anyway (7th-8th grade)
until then ball skills are ball skills and translate into football
I also think it’s a silly thing to legislate when we have enough problems in this country to “tackle”

If it wasn’t for liberals open borders initiative, the state of California would be half empty and those whackos would be sitting there passing laws for no one but themselves.
Still remember gavin with his mask mandates yet partying it up with 1%’ers maskless. Perfect example of that state and those running it

Plenty of research suggesting harm to kids who are subjected to violent impact/collisions. Pads only help some. There have been a range of concerns raised, including stunted growth, neurological damage, and even behavioral problems.
Of course, none of this is proven yet. But do kids that age really need to be playing tackle football? No, they don’t.

teenage years. I'm okay. I know injuries happen but they happen in all sports. Players get concussions playing soccer. Are they going to outlaw headers? What about hockey, baseball, etc.? Every sport has injuries. Maybe better equipment?

I wouldn't be surprised if they passed a law mandating suicides for all residents by 2030.
The government in California is deranged.

The secret plan is to legislate it for college football before the golden bears have to play the Clemson Tigers for the first time. Neff and Dabo better invest in flags for the team!

As a 42 year official of youth through high school age football I believe they should not play tackle until 9 years old. What you see is a lot of size difference between 2 -5 year olds and 2-7 year olds. Here in NC 5-6 year olds hardly know what’s happening. I also think it discourages continued participation of some marginal athletes. A lot of leagues have weight limits on ball carriers through 10 year olds. Very few 5-6 year olds enjoy it.
