I am confused, are we suggesting that he was bringing prostitutes to the homes of recruits that he was visiting, or that he was being opportunistic in calling them to his motel room because he was out of town and could not get caught by his family and friends?

I believe he was just saying that during those peak recruiting months -when he was using the school phone/plane/resources to travel around recruiting- is when the school would go through his travel/phone records more often.
And that's how he was getting busted.
I don't think the escorts and recruits are related from the context of this article. Heck who knows. But I believe the point of mentioning recruiting was just pointing out the time of the year when he is being monitored the most, because he is using school resources the most to travel. During the Summer/Offseason when he's not traveling, they wouldn't have much reason to dig into the mans phone records and the dirty dog was flying more under the radar.

property for crap like this. If you want to do something shady, at least own the device you're using to do such. Hell, go buy a burner to use so you can't be tracked without some MAJOR effort. I would assume(probably shouldn't based on this) he used fake names with these services so why not attempt to cover your other tracks.
