We will only go as far as the bullpen gets us come playoff time……and right now that ain’t looking very far……not good!

Agreed. Getting a bit tired of hearing about Belanger being a top notch pitching coach. One announcer last week said he was the best pitching coach in the country. WHAT?? Show me the money, or just Shut up. It becomes obvious when you watch every Clemson game that our guys are coached to get ahead of the hitters. Some of our guys have control issues and never get ahead of anybody, but the majority get to 0-2 or 1-2 on a lot of hitters at which time the fun begins. Either a grooved pitch which is slammed by the hitter, or a sack full of rinky dink pitches off the plate trying to get the batter to swing at a bad pitch and wahlah.......we are at 3-2 and set up for a walk, a hit batsman, etc. You get the picture. It happens over & over.

Now that the world has found out that Clemson batters cannot hit a curve or a breaking pitch of any kind, we will see a steady diet of that from here on out. Those Wake pitchers don't seem to care what the count is or who is at bat, they are bringing breaking stuff on every pitch until you go sit down. Our pitchers do not have that mentality yet, which to me says "coaching."

Maybe so, but elite pitching from the other teams we face will contribute as well going forward. I think we on the right track with coach Backich and we need to let him recruit and do his things. He makes Monte look like a high school coach. I trust where he's gonna take this team over the years. Just my 2 cents

Totally agree. Need some consistent arms in the post season. Hopefully we keep the nucleus of this team and add good pitching in the off season. Not sure if this issue could have been fixed by a pitching coach or it is just a lack of talent, but it is hard to watch. GO TIGERS!
