FOREVER YOUNG (THE BEST VERSION)

While this post is not all football related, this song took me down memory lane of the good old days whenever my grandfather would take me to the football games. Back then, the Tiger Band would march down the Avenue of Champions and the Rally Cats would be with them. The Tiger Tailgate show would toss footballs and T-Shirts to those in attendance. The good ole days are gone.

Our country won't go on forever, if we stay soft as we are now. There won't be any America because some foreign soldiery will invade us and take our women and breed a hardier race.

Actually, Robert Zimmerman (Bob Dylan) wrote and sang Forever Young. Just FYI.
Highly recommend a listen to the lyrics.

The man was a poet first and foremost. He won the Nobel for Lit in 2016. My favorite prof in 7 yrs at CU lamented one day in Eng 201 that “there are no great poets alive today.” I replied, “Sir, I beg to differ. There are many great poets alive today, they’re all writing lyrics for popular music.”
I cited Dylan & Bernie Taupin. He challenged me to prove it so next class I brought the album cover to Elton John’s first album & read lyrics to “Your Song”. Then I realized my classmates were reciting the words along with me. Halfway through the second selection Dr Henry stopped me & said, “Well done Mr B…, you’ve made your point.”
46 years later Dylan helped me prove it again.

The music, you see, just makes the words easier to remember, aye? But it’s all poetry.

One of my most cherished moments as a student there, and one that keeps me “forever young”.

I had Dr. Henry for Eng. 304. Only A I had after freshman year I think.
BTW, Dylan IS still touring. Never Ending Tour comes to Charlotte June 22.
