I am always amazed how his songs can be identified as his even if done by another artist. There is just something about his writing (SUnday Morning COming Down, Me and Bobbie McGee as examples)

For a Rhodes Scholar who was destined to have a distinguished military career, he turned to writing songs and was one of the best in Nashville. His life story is very interesting.

Sunday Morning Coming Down is great but Me and Bobby McGee is one for the ages and one of my favorites.
