Clemson dominates in advancing to Charleston Classic final |
The Clemson men’s basketball team advanced to the Charleston Classic final with a 78-59 win over Hofstra Friday night.
The Tigers improved to 4-0, handing the Pride their first loss of the season (3-1) by controlling the action much of the game. Hofstra led briefly in the first half, but didn’t get within eight points for the final 21:25. The Tigers pulled away with a 16-2 run by the midpoint of the second half. Donte Grantham backed up a 20-point effort in the Charleston Classic opener with 22 points on 9-of-12 shooting Friday. Grantham is shooting 75 percent from the field through four games. Marcquise Reed added his first career double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds, as well as six assists and three steals. Shelton Mitchell (13) and Gabe DeVoe (12) joined him and Grantham in double-figures scoring. The Tigers will take on Temple (2-0) in a 9:30 p.m. tip on ESPN2 Sunday.
