Damarcus Harrison The Tigers shot 47% from the field while holding the Bulldogs to just 37%. Hall hit a pair of free throws with 18.5 seconds to put the Tigers up 70-67. After a Bulldog timeout, guard Tyler Strange hit a three-pointer with 6.6 remaining to tie the game. While trying to inbound the ball, Clemson was called for a technical foul for calling a timeout with none remaining and the Bulldogs made both free throws to go up 72-70. The Tigers had several point blank attempts to tie the game but could not get the equalizer. “We all thought we had one left,” Brownell said. “Apparently we were out. Obviously that’s an inexcusable mistake. I should have known and we made a terrible play at the end. We really weren’t under that much duress (on the inbounds) and they double-teamed Rod and Jordan (Roper) ran down and didn’t look back. Donte (Grantham) got in some trouble and called the timeout.” The win was the first ever for Gardner-Webb (2-1) against Clemson (1-2) in 5 attempts. It was also the Bulldogs' first ever win against the Atlantic Coast Conference in 10 attempts. Strange led the Bulldogs with 18 and 10 assists. The Tigers return to action Saturday to face the loser of Nevada and Seton Hall. Clemson will play at 2:30 p.m. ET
