Graham Neffs hires vs. DRads hires

Baseball: DRad: Monte Lee. Fired after multiple underachieving seasons during a 7 year stint. Neff: Erik Bakich. Won the conference last year and is leading the tigers during a really promising season. His team is currently #3 in the nation.
Women’s basketball: DRad: Amanda Butler. Didn’t have the best resume, having regressed at Florida. Fired after leading the lady tigers to multiple sub .500 seasons during a 6 year stint. Neff: Shawn Poppie. Time will tell if he pans out, but this hire looks super promising. Led UT Chattanooga to tourney appearances during both of his seasons there, and had a much better resume than Butler.
The future of Clemson Athletics looks bright, with superb coaching hires by a great young athletic director. Meanwhile, Miami has struggled with mediocrity in all sports during DRad’s tenure there.

Its often said any good AD keeps a short list for every sport just in case.
I would love to see the list for mens basketball.

Neff didn't hire Kwolek. As for gymnastics, Neff followed the drad map for start-up programs. Both had to hire proven coaches that had a history of putting new programs together.
As for Bakich. Neff may get that credit, but the BOT essentially told him who to hire.
Neff's responsibility as assistant was to be very involved in basketball. So Neff was very involved with hiring Amanda Butler.
Time will tell if he made good hires on tennis and womens basketball.

I believe DRads specialty was/is fund raising for facility enhancements. This was big for Clemson, and he did help the state of athletics overall, I believe. Neff seems to be doing well, only time will tell!

Do you have a search bot that identifies any post containing the word “Dabo” so you can make sniping comments in response to every post with his name in it?
Most Clemson fans just enjoy the success our football program has seen. Kinda like we are enjoying the success our basketball team is having this year.

He/she must. Such a weak shade thrower. Really.
Dabo came in like a baller, set the tone on day 1. Came to fruition 5 ish years later.
Administration and Dept had NOTHING to do with that fire he brought to the trail and field. Wow.

After losing to South Carolina five years in a row, a lot of Clemson fans wanted Dabo gone. But then AD Terry Don Phillips stepped up and make it clear Dabo was his man. The rest is history.

This is not true. No one wanted Dabo gone. It was quite obvious what he was building and how he was raising the bar from the talent he was bringing in.
Spurrier did have his number. But the “Carolina is in Chapel Hill” take cemented his fire and enthusiasm across the fan base.

Your timing is off a little. The 5 game losing streak was 2009-2013. Phillips was athletic director from 2002-2012. How could Phillips have made any decision regarding Dabo “after losing to South Carolina five years in a row”?
I know, facts don’t matter when y’all take shots at Dabo. So it is you that is wrong, but still doesn’t warrant calling you names.
For reference - you said “After losing to South Carolina five years in a row, a lot of Clemson fans wanted Dabo gone. But then AD Terry Don Phillips stepped up and make it clear Dabo was his man. ”

Dabo had a plan and a vision, which is awesome.
But the administration hired him, gave him a platform, encouraged him to share his vision publicly, and supported his vision with significant sums of money including facility upgrades, staff hires, etc.
It was a team effort. But for the Dabo cult, we can't acknowledge anyone else's help or involvement, because that would somehow take credit away from what Dabo has done.

Our athletic department success under Radakovich could've been appreciated, with Dan's contributions acknowledged, but NO, the Dabo cult has to turn it into Dabo's doing. To the cult, Radakovich can't be given credit for anything, but rather, Dabo gets credit.
I see Dabo credited on TNet for not only football success, but success in other sports, increase in applications to Clemson, the increase in Clemson's academic standing, and economic development in Clemson. It would be hilarious if it weren't so ludicrous.

for our two national championships.
The point is that Dabo isn't the only reason we won them. A whole lot of other people worked hard to make that happen, and were key ingredients in it happening.
Radakovich, who was Dabo's boss, was absolutely part of it and deserves credit too.
Clemson was already a household name before Dabo made us an elite football program.

developments in the city. Laugh all you want but he put Clemson back on the map. The buildings wouldn't be built if not for 7 Saturday's in the fall.
Give credit to DRad for softball but to think he's the reason behind football success is crazy.
And as far as the 2 cults go, I'll take the one with multiple playoff appearances and 2 National Championships versus 2 wins at Chapel Hill and a borderline .500 league record.

If you don’t think that the football success and exposure isn’t the reason for increased applications, then you sir are bind or an idiot. Dabo is directly responsible for that success whether you want to admit it or not. That is a you problem. I’m far from a Dabo fan boy. But to try to stand on that hill is stupid. The board may have approved the money but who told them where it was needed?

And paid him handsomely, and gave him shiny new facilities, and funded assistant coaches and support staff at record levels who helped him do those things.
If you're suggesting that Dabo accomplished everything by himself, then let's stop putting so much money into the football program. Let's stop upgrading facilities. Let's stop having one of the highest coaching staff budgets in the country. And let's stop showing up for games. I mean, if Dabo does it all by himself, he shouldn't need any help.

Sure the athletic department was giving him the money but he was driving the ship. They were just the check book. Again who made the decision to put the money where. DABO SWINNEY! I agree he couldn’t have done it without the board but to say they deserve the majority or even a large part of the credit is laughable.

All of y’all hating on DRad over his comments are a bit ridiculous. The man is now the AD for Miami. His job is to do look out for Miami’s best interest.
When he was at Clemson he looked out for Clemson’s best interest. Best believe he’d be all for the lawsuit if he were still here.
As for his hires compared to Neff, how can anyone compare? Neff hasn’t been here long enough.
Monte was a heck of a hire and one of the most sought after coaches that season. Anyone would have hired him. Monte and Bakich have almost identical starts. So time will tell if Bakich the better hire. He looks good right now for sure.
You absolutely can’t jump the gun on WBB. The dude hasn’t even coached a game here yet.
One thing I know is he was very instrumental in getting a lot of these facilities built and knows how to make the program money. Let the man do his thing in Miami. He doesn’t have to be our enemy because he is just looking out for Miami.
