Why do all of our games sound so weird at home on tv? Like most places you hear the crowd as a whole but seems like everyone the mics are weird or something and you hear the same one or two ppl yelling behind the announcers, it’s annoying and iv had to watch mos rod our games with the volume down lol

I’ve noticed that too, but also noticed that back in 05-10 or so, the crowd was much louder than it is today in real life. Around 2010 we were considered by most analysts one of the top 5 toughest places to play. Not anymore

I’ll admit with my work schedule I haven’t been near as much as I used to, try to make it to 1-2 a year but I was a student during those years and those place was definitely rockin … you had to know someone in line or camp and stay in line to get good tickets to about every home game. I feel like in person it sounds better than whatever mics they are using bc it sounds horrible like one or two ppl behind the announcers are being obnoxious instead of hearing the crowd as a whole like at most venues on tv.

Definitely, and not every game was crazy, don’t get me wrong. But any decent opponent, especially a ranked ACC opponent Littlejohn was LOUD. I miss the old student setup as well. I was so proud when ncaa basketball came out on Xbox in 2009 and we were the number 1 toughest stadium to play in. Times have changed

This is from 2009.
"Over 200,000 votes were collected in the online poll in which Clemson recently placed second in the Toughest Places to Play contest hosted by EA SPORTS. Littlejohn Coliseum finished in second place behind North Carolina’s Dean E. Smith Center. Xavier, Pittsburgh and Duke rounded out the top five in the voting for the college basketball home court that is most difficult for opponents to play in."

The announcers during the Pitt game said LJ is one of the toughest places to play in the ACC. I remember it clearly because I thought, did he really just say that? I don’t put much stock in what announcers say, but I heard them say it so someone must think it is true.
Why do you insist on denying that there is support for our basketball team from the fans and the University? Why don’t you just enjoy the season we are having?

JK says we’re supposed to believe it when they say nice things about Brad. Wonder how he reconciles this contradiction.

He won’t admit that Clemson fans or administration actually support Clemson basketball. It eliminates his biggest excuse pool.

Is the reponsibility of the fans. Unfortunately, Clemson does not have many hard core fans who understand basketball. They either come to the game and sit on their hands or sell their tickets to the opposition. This is a good team. Too bad some of you whiners can’t buy in and are always looking for something to complain about. When the crowd gets into it, Littlejohn is as good as it gets.

OOPS....here we go! Cobbox shelling out a bowl full of truth again! Lookout Cobbox, I am sure the hand grenades are already being taken out of the box to be lobbed your way. BTW, The last game I attended at Littlejohn was Duke a couple years ago as guests of an Athletic Dept. Staffer and we sat in the Clemson Employees section. It was filled with Duke fans who purchased tickets from Clemson Employees. It got really tense in there and I thought surely there would be fisticuffs. This is ridiculous and needs to stop! Clemson people should be ashamed of themselves for selling out their home court advantage to some crazy fans from the opposition.

Haha exactly, and like I said iv noticed it the last couple years but when you go the crowd noise is still good (not like the OP days mentioned above) but it’s still a good crowd they just make it sound really weird with mic placement or something I’m not sure but I literally had to mute it watching the second half.

Seems like an ACCN problem. Isn't a problem on the CW. I guess Raycom knows what they are doing if they are producing those games for the CW.

Well the game tonight was on espn2 but I feel like iv def heard it for games on accn also… I think maybe the mics need to be changed or moved I mean it sounds nothing like if you listen to other games and the crowd noise is more uniform , im not a sound tech but something is off bc its horrible on tv and makes it sound like no one is yelling when in fact I know it sounds better at the game… and ill prob get roasted for saying it but some kids notice that kind of stuff snf think thr atmosphere sucks when it fact it doesn’t.

that is screaming next to the microphone all game. Her voice and cheers are awful. Please move her. Give her a dang court side seat for free. Just get her away from the mic.

I didn't notice so I wasn't bothered. Or I wasn't bothered so I didn't notice. Or since we were winning, I didn't care.

Microphones these days can filter out background noise. It's a good thing if you are conducting an important interview outside on a windy day. It's not so great if you have one or two annoying voices in a crowd.

I was thinking about crowd noise too. One thing I noticed is the individualized squawking and screaming right behind the commentators. It sounds terrible. I don’t know how to fix that…maybe move the students a bit further away.

Totally agree. The area where the students sit is too close to the TV announcer table. Every weirdo on campus comes through on a mic during the telecast and then during timeouts, they mug childishly for the cameras as the announcers are trying to do their jobs. You are correct, other teams do not do this and we shouldn't either.

ESPN seems to prefer to muck it up with the students. Reece did an appearance with them during a break in action. The Tiger comes over and does his antics too. Maybe Raycom/CW does the game from the other side?

Crowd noise? How about a crowd first. Last night, on a senior night after a very good season I saw plenty of empty seats. When I watch (I'm 5 hours away) all I see are a bunch of stiffs sitting their with their legs crossed as if they were at a tennis match. I they weren't wearing orange I'd swear I was watching a UNC game. I see very few students behind the goals like in the old days.
