Get your facts from a non-TNet lawyer.

Good piece. I like that Jarrett dumbs things down for me as the TNet Mensa-speak is over my head.
“The most curious — and corrupt — aspect of Bragg’s case is that he still has not identified what underlying crime Trump supposedly committed. This, of course, is required under the Sixth Amendment. But no one, least of all Merchan, seems the least bit bothered by it. His honor ruled that Bragg had presented "legally sufficient evidence" to proceed. Okay, but under what law exactly? “

-When a falsifying documents case in New York gets moved up to a felony because of another crime, the prosecution is not required, per NY state law, to state what the "underlying crime" is. -Trump is not the first to face charges like this. There's a precedent. -No law has been violated and this isn't an uncommon charge.
Doing research on this case isn't hard.

There are innumerable reasons for appeal in this case. It's all about sidelining T-Rump and costing him money. Political BS.

Even Bill Barr has categorized the NY / Alvin Bragg / Matthew Colangelo case against Trump as an abomination.
Yes, the same Bill Barr who hates Trump with the heat of 1000 suns.

I don't particularly love the case either. But it should be critiqued correctly.
I think Trump has the !ost legal jeopardy on the federal docs case.

Lets not get confused. The trend towards authoritarianism is undeniable

FYI, Obama retained ~33,000,000 confidential government documents shortly before he left office in early 2017. NARA has whimperingly asked Obama to send those documents to NARA for safe keeping. Via his actions (more specifically, inactions), Obama has in effect t9ld NARA to go pound sand. Article 2 of The Constitution bestows the legal right for Obama to possess those documents, and to arrange for safe keeping of those documents by whatever means that Obama sees fit. Last I heard, Obama had a bunch of those documents in an unguarded storage locker that is not in any of his various properties.
NARA still wants those documents, but SCOTUS precedent (from the end of the Clinton presidency, when Clinton took numerous confidential taped conversations between him and various foreign leaders, and DoJ unsuccessfully sued Clinton for those tapes) confirmed that Article 2 of The Constitution allowed an ex-president to retain ownership of those records even after he leaves office.
DoJ, by its actions and via its recognition of SCOTUS ruling re Clinton, has not even filed a subpoena for Obama’s documents. (Of course, DoJ can’t issue an indictment until after a subpoena is ignored or refused.)
Thus, the only option for NARA is to persist with its 7+ year begging campaign in hopes that Obama will agree to let NARA make copies of Obama’s ~33,000,000 confidential documents.
Trump’s confidential situation, on the other hand, is, according to DoJ’s Robert Hur, a ‘one off’ prosecution that won’t be repeated again. Really, this is how the authoritarian-trending USA dispenses ‘equal justice under the law.’
^^^^ Is why Trump hater Bill Barr worries openly that the rule of law (which is the basis for a ‘democratic’ version of a constitutional republic) is being replaced by arbitrary dispensation of the law (which is the key aspect of an authoritarian form of government).

The case is a joke. What a waste of time. Even libs like Geraldo think its a joke. Geraldo dislikes Trump probably as much as I do, but the case is a joke.

6 weeks. I don't think he will be convicted. I think someone will see it as overreach. I just think it will remind many people who follow it what a fraud Trump is, but it's not a case that will change anyone's mind about anything.. Also, nobody knows if Trump will testify or how the felony part of the case will be proven. Wait and see. I am just glad he has to sit there everyday.

Credit to you for admitting that you are all-in on use of LawFare as a means of election interference against Trump.
Thus, the well earned TU.
