extending the time without a vote which is bs aside..how can you lock schools into 2036 but at the same time not guarantee they will be paid beyond 2027?

That's why this is a complicated mess.

Nobody really knows what the true story is. Did the president's sign the extension in 2017? What is all this stuff about 2027 vs. 2036? What is the exact wording of the GOR with ACC and the Media Agreement with ESPN?
Discovery will be critical. And, if Phillips doesn't want it to be discovered badly enough, then negotiations can start sooner and move more quickly.

I guess he can add that to those Northwestern lawsuits he’s named in too.

Yes. Payout approaching zero. Otherwise if all that’s true there will be 15 schools suing the ACC

Follow the money. Anyone that doesn't think Phillips and Swofford got $$$ are fooling themselves.

If the money goes to their family instead of them directly, then there’s absolutely no evidence of corruption. Obviously.

College sports fans are so naive! Phillips is from where? Chicago perhaps! Look at the guy. He has it written all over him. People nowadays are so gullible that they don’t recognize organized crime runs everything with big dollars involved. They are expecting organized crimesters to be a bunch of dudes with Italian names sitting in the back room of a strip club smoking fancy cigars, when in reality they are running your college sports, running your university’s, running your politicians, and deacons in your church. Time to wake up from your nap!

It depends. Was the commissioner empowered to sign the agreement as part of his responsibilities? Just because you think he should not have signed it is not an out unless he stepped outside of his authority

I agree with a specific caveat. And maybe this is similar and more familiar for people to understand.
Imagine the members of the ACC essentially gave Swofford and the ACC as a body, what amounts to Power of Attorney for media rights. If the ACC, or Swofford specifically, did not act in the member institutions' best interests AND there was gross negligence or fraud (by signing without consent) then any binding agreements made COULD be challenged in court and would have a better than 50/50 shot at being over turned or nullified.
I get that it's way more complicated than that legally but that's what FSU's argument sounded like to me.

Does all this go away if ACC schools starting equal payouts with the SEC schools?
I don't think it will happen but ...

So you sign an additional 10 yr. contract with no increase in the amount paid by ESPN to the schools (ACC)? and it is not even guaranteed but you are still bound to it and the ACC and ESPN still own your rights? This gets crazier by the minute. This GOR contract is treated more holy than the Holy Grail was treated. Locked away in ACC headquarters, no school bound by contract gets a copy of contract and if you want to see what is in contract you must go to Greensboro, now Charlotte to see it and read it with an ACC observer looking over your shoulder and no notes can be taken of the actual wording?
I'd be willing to bet that The current Clemson President, Neff, Dabo and the Clemson BOT Chairman or BOT members have never seen or read an original copy of this holy grail. At best, they have only seen or read a hijacked copy floating around on the internet. And we are talking about institutions of higher learning. What a effffffing joke.
Stick a fork in this GOR contract. The ACC is dead.

As many lawyers as have poured over these documents, don’t you think this would have come up before now? I really don’t think this is the smoking gun that FSU would have you believe.

I have never trusted Jim Phillips as the ACC. Still don’t trust him. Just something about him gives me the impression he is deceitful and cannot be trusted. Maybe he is related to Swofford.

The SEC commissioners like Slive and then Sankey have been wily, savvy characters, with their focus on serving the Conference. Fat Swoffie just seemed to focus on benefiting himself, and sometimes saving UNC, but never the Conference. Empty suit Philips is in over his head and worthless.

If this is true I will not be surprised to see other teams join FSU and give the ACC the middle finger on the way out. The ACC basically bullied several schools into accepting Stanford and Cal.
