Girard has been the ultimate game changer for us this season. He’s the puzzle piece that was missing. I know many thought he would be another Hemmenway, but he’s so much better. The shot and quick release is obvious, but his understanding of the game, passing, and ability to be a decoy are elite and completely change the way teams have to defend. I can’t think of a better player in the country to fit our team. What a portal pickup.

Thank God for Joe Girard. He is the only guard doing anything. Neither one of the Hunter brothers can score. Their total was 2 of 13 against TCU. Chase was 1 of 9 against Alabama and missed his first five shots against USC. Unfortunately, Hemmenway has his foot problem. His shot was coming back before he injured the foot again. Hopefully he will be back soon.

Correct Kiawah!! During the game last night a few times Girard passed up a shot and tossed it over to a wide open Hunter kid of one flavor or another. Every time I would yell "Oh No.....don't do that" and sure enough those 2 boys laid bricks every time. They look like they are shooting a medicine ball or something. My goodness! Can't someone teach them how to shoot? And those totally out of control driving layups that don't even tough the rim. Good Grief guys!

He's not as much of a defensive liability as expected but that may change once the ACC starts.
I really feel we are vulnerable to guards who can get into the lane.
We are still going to live and die by the 3/jump shot because none of our players can create their own shot or get to the rim.

We already knew what he could do from watching him at Syracuse but in our offense with PJ and the Schief inside, he is so much better.

I posted about him after the first game when idiots were literally talking trash about a kid on a new team learning his role and system in game time situations… I said then that he was gonna be a huge part of this teams success. Some ppl blow me away with their stupidity about sports.

He's nearly automatic from the free throw line, which doesn't hurt either!

Have we EVER had anybody shoot >90% from the charity stripe? Seems almost alien for Clemson basketball.

It’s what we’ve missed since Gave DeVoe. All the teams since then were this type of player away from being great.

The big difference between Girard and Hemenway is Girard’s ball handling. He can create an opportunity off the dribble. Hemenway is a good shooter, but he is really only effective when he can catch, turn, and shoot. If he puts the ball on the floor he rarely shoots afterward. He is not a threat to dribble around anyone or drive to the basket. Girard is quick and can drive and pass as well as shoot both off the pass and off the dribble.

He seems to have connected with PJ very well too. Some pretty nice passes going both ways between them.

He was the heart and soul and go to guy At Syracuse last season. Without him we would not be undefeated.
