For anyone who would want to try and experiment on their own, it’s quite easy. Get yourself some half gallon mason jars. You can find them online or at hobby lobby.

Buy some air lock tops for said jars. These work great.

Now you need some yeast which I prefer this type bc it works on basically any type wine.

Next all you have to do is buy some fruit or juice (without preservatives) and mash them up in a bowl.

Just today I made some fruit wine for an experiment. I used one pint of blackberries, one pint of raspberries, and a half gallon of strawberries. I added 1.5 cups of sugar for the whole batch so the yeast has more sugar to make a higher ABV wine. Poured the mixture into two separate half gallon jars and topped off w water (don’t top off too much bc the yeast will create a top layer of fermentation). Added a half teaspoon of yeast for each and now I wait 2 weeks to rack and drain the fruit.

Then put back in for secondary fermentation in jars for another few weeks at room temp. Once that’s done, filter the wine w cheese cloth into bottles, I prefer flip top ones bc I can re-use them. Set in the fridge for several months for the flavors to chill. At this point you can also add a little lemon juice for acidity and black tea concentrate for tannins. Or you can back sweeten if you like sweet wine. This would all be based on your preferences.

Stroll into Walmart like a boss and grab a bottle of Richards Wild Irish Rose for under $6 and use all that extra time to get shithammered much more quickly.

As I agree that buying cheap wine is less expensive than making it.

That takes all the fun out of it, and the experimentation.

What happens when the zombie apocalypse happens??? You better have some brewing materials ready or you will be sober and under attack by zombies.

What’s the ABV and residual sugar content on one of those bad boys after secondary fermentation?

The ABV will be about 12-13% and I dont measure residual sugar.

But I don’t back sweeten, I prefer dry wines. So by only putting in 3/4 a cup sugar per jar the yeast will eat all that and will be a dry fruit wine.

Sometimes they get too high an ABV like 16-17% and they taste like fruit sake. Which is still good

In my Blanc wine I grow I don’t add any sugar for fermentation. I just have it how it is. But the grapes concentrate a lot of sugar on the vine so it’s not needed.
