Conference realignment question to you all!

We all know that Footvall is the straw that stirs collegiate athletics financial drink…nuff said
With that in mind, how much sway do you all think Clemson’s highly successful Olympic Sports program will have in determining which Conference Clemson heads to (B1G or SEC)?
The SEC philosophy has always been to only carry the min # of Men’s and Womens Olympic sports necessary to remain NCAA compliant. Some schools (USC for one) have maintained Men’s Soccer despite moving to the SEC. Clemson clearly values their Soccer programs and are very good at them, along with their investments in other sports.
I still think that, given the binary choice b/t the two, the B1G is a better “Business” fit for Clemson for a multitude of reasons but I am aware of the “emotional” connection many Clemson Football fans have with going SEC.
Anyway, this subject is now regaining noise levels now that the regular Football season is over.

B1G makes more sense in the larger context...

Clemson brings nothing that the SECC needs. They don't NEED another strong football program. We don't expand their recruiting footprint. Our direct rival is in state and would likely do whatever they could to keep us out.
B1G on the other hand.... Could use another national power to combat the "OSU/Michigan and then everyone else" narrative out there. We DO expand their recruiting footprint into the talent rich South.
Add in us bringing up a lot more olympic sports recently and it looks like we're maneuvering for B1G application.

They are getting Oregon and Washington (two Top 6 programs this year). They have solved their Michigan/OSU problem.

Zero. Two reasons.

1. The decision will be made based on money, everything else is just window dressing.
2. Shortly after Clemson moves to SEC or B1G, those two conferences will break away from NCAA and form their own governing body so all sorts of rules and regulations will be changed.

Ha. IF Clemson moves it will be on money, yes.

But #2 isn’t happening unless all major conferences break off and form their own body, but I doubt that happens as there is exactly no one who has the capacity to bring all the parties together and get them to agree to all this.

In my opinion, the BIG is a more honorable and academic conference by far.

Playing early season Baseball and Softball would suck at schools where it snows almost up to Memorial Day. Don't even think some schools like Wisconsin field a baseball team.

IMO, there should be no realignment except for football. Just separate football and let them divide teams up however they want…leave all the other sports alone.
Football is funding and ruining Olympic sports at the same time.

The travel budget alone makes the case for regional affiliation for olympic sports

I don’t think that’s how things will play out.
Like an earlier poster stated, I believe Clemson is position for AAU accreditation. (Vet School) to head to the B1G.
As much as Many Clemson fans love less travel and local rivalries, it appears by every other metric (to include future recruiting, championship opportunities) the B1G is a more logical destination.
