Here's a fairly astounding fact: The entire history of the United States has unfolded in the time it's taken Pluto to orbit the Sun once. The US is 248 years old. The last time Pluto was in the position it is today was when we declared our independence in 1776. Yes it take Pluto. 248 years to circle around the sun.

Or is it?

Well it's like this. I was taught that it was a planet. So as far as I'm concerned it's still a planet. I vote to keep Pluto as the 9th.

I agree. If Pluto were not a planet, where would Virginia eat her jelly sandwiches? If you know, you know.

A friend told me he once saw Uranus through a telescope. Scarred him for life.

a little over 365 days for uranus to get around the sun . . . believe I remember it is 365 days, 6 hours, 9 minutes . . . don't ask how I remember that - uranus and 6H9mins . . . seems legit.
And while you're doing nothing - grab some ball bearings and some prestone anti-freeze.

It's important.
It takes roughly 365.25 days (8766 hours) for my butt to circle the sun, every year...

Dwarf planet, which they say isn't a planet. Notbsure why they use the word planet if it is not a planet.

it would fly off into interstellar space, you know, being so far from the sun's gravity and all.

But you know the earth's circumference (at the equator) is roughly 24,000 miles. And if you are standing in the country of Ecuador you are moving at 1000 miles per hour, due to the earth's rotation (24,000 miles in 24 hours). But in Florida, you are flying along at only 600 to 700 mph (roughly the speed of an airliner). Please slowdown! At the northpole the earth's rotational speed is less than 1 mile (actually it's zero miles) in 24 hours. No wonder it's so cold.

That's why it was downgraded from a planet to a star.

That's why we're almost out of Plutonium. Takes a coon's age to get back with some.
