Help me understand something
Mar 5, 2023, 11:19 AM
|
|
For nearly 6 weeks, I have consumed nothing but this year's list of superfoods: turmeric, pomegranate, greek yogurt, etc.
So far, the only thing I have noticed differently is that my bowel movements have an array of interesting colors, but I don't feel anything closer to the man of steel.
Tell me, what am I doing wrong? More turmeric?

Takes something like 16 glasses of almond “milk” to get the protein in one serving of cow’s milk. There are no health or environmental benefits to all these nut “milks”. And based on the FDA standard of identity for milk they should have to label them nut beverages.
Try getting away from the fads and eat eggs, dairy products, lean meat, fish and fruits. Cut carbs. I get most of my carbs from beer these days.

And it's got some protein in it, limited but it's there. Don't think that ratio is accurate.
I don't like it or drink it in a glass... Only use in cereal here and there and in recipes. We have a kid allergic to cow proteins so, it's the only option for us.
Oddly I don't miss milk one single bit and only cheese.. but I can live without it.

Almond "milk" is one of the biggest hoaxes ever put on the

gullible American consumer. As Rhett said, virtually no protein, and if it has significant calcium, it's artificially added and not nearly as digestible as the calcium in milk!
These fake 'milks' like almond and soy should not even be legally called "milk"! The proper name would be almond or soy extract!

I agree its a processed beverage no doubt...

but Im glad there is some kind of alternative to milk for those with allergies. What's worse is the alternatives to butter....veggie oil/"plant-based" margarines. That stuff isn't good either but glad its there when you need it. Sadly, that crap is in everything so you end up running in circles trying t avoid it....at least when you are shopping for a processed/packaged option.

nut beverage...I like that...pretty much have to be a nut to think you are getting any milk when you drink almond! It should absolutely be illegal to call almond or soy beverages "milk"!

It’s what’s for dinner. The body can only absorb a tiny amount of what you are taking/eating - proofs in the bowl. But if the fear of cow farts motivates you, then by all means, double down. Eat seaweed. Must be in Cali or Portland…

Pizza and Diet Mountain Dew seem to work for me. I think switching to Diet really made a difference.

How many years of damage are you trying to undo?

If it’s decades, then you shouldn’t expect any dramatic benefits in just 6 weeks.
How are your macros? Do you feel that you are getting enough protein, carbs, and fat?
How is your sleep?
Are you staying hydrated?
How’s your stress level?
These details matter.
With that said, I’m sure your cells are happier and you’ve made some great improvements, even if you don’t feel it yet.

PBC, Your biggest problem is that you live on the west coast in one of those ‘crap hole’ states….no wonder you’re all boogered up…..there’s a price for being woke.
