I find it interesting that with our CO OC's Tony and Jeff we were so good

Yet when each of them got head coaching jobs they struggled. Now many would welcome Jeff back and maybe even Tony were he to become available but there is no guarantee that would get us going

Could be because Jeff needed just a little more time or perhaps new regime is that much better. My thinking is the former.

It didn't matter who was calling the plays or what they were calling. The players on this team would be scurrying around with water bottles for the players we had then.

WR room certainly went down when Scott left. The OL room has declined since the Austin promotion. I'm still scratching my head the passing game coordinator. That position seems like a total waste of money.

The fact that these were guys within Dabos trusted network, there was another up and coming Riley at east Carolina during Chad morris departure and how a lot of people want the guys with Clemson connections gone is also interesting to think about.

Tony and Jeff knew how and when to run the ball. Now not so much.

Our offense now doesn’t emphasize running personnel packages and play calling. Not to mention traditional play action, screens, sweeps etc. Offensive seems very limited.

The offense is limited...

Whether it's player development, inability to properly evaluate recruits, recruiting the wrong people or whatever, we just don't have the players.
1. The O-line can't block, that limits any down field passing and really hurts the run game. 2. Shipley and Mafa are to slow to run outside, so that limits us to runs between the tackles, which then goes back to #1. 3. The receivers are inconsistent to say the least. Drops, penalties, lazy routes. And since they can't get opened 80% of the time, you're back to #1. 4. Cade seems to be in constant panic mode. Some plays he's running for his life, others he's over thinking and trying to do too much, and then others I don't think he's thinking at all.

Both were nepotistic hires with little to no significant experience so we can’t hire people like them anymore per Tnet users.

Me thinks it was the whole ball of wax. Perhaps Caldwell wasn't so bad??? Rating numbers weren't good 2, 3, occasionally 4* but they sure were pretty nasty. Not particularly good NFL talent but good college lineman.
Hobby was a dog on the recruiting trail. So was Jeff Scott. Some tend to forget that the position coaches help recruit other positions. But Scott seemed to teach dog in the wide receivers. Heck, they'd knock you off the line, not other way around. He and Streeter knew their QB's.
Who knows if they'd work again but you got to try.
